I haven't seen much of Barkley but when I have he's just looked average to me. Saying that I've only seen him in a handful of games as I don't watch England.

He's slightly above average with flashes of brilliance. But because he's young, people think that he might be able to produce the rare brilliance on a more consistent basis as he develops. But that's a huge if.
