Fav games that's aren't obvious

Postby Pretty Boy Lee » Thu Jan 07, 2016 3:22 am

You're all pissed off with our performance this morning and I'm Pissed off I had to go to work and miss navas finally score. Seriously me and the missus have to find something else to talk about how he's scored.

So let's cheer ourselves up. Fav games, with a slight twist. Take out the usual suspects of cup finals and qpr and go for slightly less named. Off top of my head here's some games I remember loving.

Norwich 6-1. This was possibly my fav ever display from city. Tevez and aguero going mental. Oh how k wanted that to be our two up top for years.

Pompy 6-0. Counted for nought in the end but how I thought this was the start of better days.

The 1-1 at the swamp in about 04. Again didn't mean much but going there and not losing was great. A season without United beating us was nice at the time too. Barton scored, think he nicked it on the way in???

4-2 win over Bolton. Svens season I think. Great comeback and I wanna say kelvin etuhu scored.

Any others?
Tracking back is overrated.

Most of my favourite times come from our times out of the premier league.

Amongst a lot of great games that season, Ali Benarbia's debut against Birmingham was absolutely fucking magical, think it was an early Saturday kick off 3-1 at home. Incredible to think that was 14 and a half years ago!

A particular favourite was when City beat Ipswich away in the FA Cup in January 2002, with a screaming top corner volley from Berkovic winning the game for us - sweet revenge after their fans were cunts after we were relegated the season before

We beat Forest 2-1 at Maine Road in a night game and Keith Curle was mint. Brilliant atmosphere on the kippax, proper football.

Another one the Liverpool 2-1 at Maine Road when David White scored, the image of him celebrating and the kippax packed to the rafters was amazing. Great kit also.

Loved the game where we beat Derby 2-1 and Quinn saved a Dean Saunders penalty.

Also when we beat Sunderland 3-2 to ensure we finished above the rags for the first time in years. Superb atmosphere, Sunderland brought about 10000 and they made some noise

That goal by Berkovic never gets a mention in the media, but that Scholes one that was identical gets replayed over and over!

The blackburn 4-1
the huddersfield 10-1
The last Maine rd Derby for the Goater 100

the 1-1 at the Swamp in 90 when brightwell scored the screamer, I was in the stretford end for that game. I tried to get the steward to let me out as loads of city fans were being escorted around the pitch into the away section. Bastard wouldnt open the gate for me. Loved it and hated it in equal measure, I wanted to go mental but wasnt stupid enough to take the chance.

Bloody hell; Where do you start? Lol!! Most of the above ones which was when I could go a regular basis before kids etc... but my particular favourite had to be away against Villa on April Fools Day 1990. Hadn't won away all season facing relegation (as per!!) and Villa going for the title.

Immense performance and set us on our way for the next couple of years of thinking that we may actually see some silverware.

Enjoy!!

My first ever City game was a 5-1 beating by Wolves at Molineux in 1973. Even though it was a bad defeat it was the first time I'd seen the lads live so still memorable.

Boxing Day 1977. City vs Newcastle. Colin Bell coming on as a half time sub after his injury. Not a dry eye in the house & even the Geordie's joined in with the ovation that seemed to last forever.

Villa Park, FA Cup semi final when Paul Power scored. I was at the back of the Holte End, incredible atmosphere & the sudden realisation that we were going to Wembley.

I like the 3 - 2 win away at Norwich. I think it was a Monday night game. The Delia outburst at half time was and still is absolutely hilarious. The Robbie Fowler scuffed shot to win it as well was very fitting to what was two average teams going at it.

Slightly off topic but does anyone remember the scuffed Vassell shot at Sunderland which trickled in. Tremendous stuff!

City v Hamburg 2009 - WOW! I've yet to see that atmosphere bettered. I was so proud to be sat there that night. The fans were amazing and the players all limped off. Elano hit the bar and the post with sublime free kicks.

This is the atmosphere we need to aspire to as often as possible. Electric.

The 6-2 win at Sheffield Wednesday in 2001, just after Benarbia had signed. Had a belter of a day out; I'd never been to Hillsborough before. It's a beauty of a football stadium.

Tottenham comeback from 3-0 to 4-3 with 10 men. Under Keegan it didn't matter how many men we had on the pitch, we could still score a load and I remember saying to my mate at half time that I bet we can still beat them...!

Also, the game where Tarnat scored that 40 yard free kick against blackburn and we went top of the prem for the first time.

It was my 30th that day!

I remember that, "Peter Reeeeidddd!!" I'm sure it effectively made us safe. The start of Howard Kendalls short lived stint. He really did save our arses, made us a pretty useful team for a few seasons after.

I remember I think it was the game after that, away at Norwich and Adrian Heath scored the only goal. We finished 14th in the end, equal points but behind on GD to the scum.

Chelsea 2 City 3

It was early 90's we were 2 - 0 down at the bridge with 15 mins to go and we turned the match around in the last 15 mins and scored 3 to take the spoils, in wet and windy conditions.

I remember listening on the radio as the match was not live commentary and the goals were announced as they happened... Still remember the buzz when we scored the third... Fantastic.

The 3-1 against Watford in the league cup when we were 2nd tier and they were top flight. Lakey was fantastic.

The 10-1 and the simod cup tie against Plymouth three days later that we won 6-2. Another,Adcock hat-trick iirc.
Balotelli......that's a brilliant finish.

There was a 1-1 at Sheffield Wednesday when Rosler scored to safeguard our PL status. '94 I think. There must have been 15/16K City fans there. I was sat in the cantilever stand which is the one you see from the camera position on TV and it was full of City fans. Superb atmosphere.

The Dipper one mentioned by SOF where White scored twice was immense as well

My shoulder hurt for about 3 years after pulling a muscle in an ill-advised fist pump on my settee when Tevez equalised
