You're right Prezike, it doesn't matter, which is why I find it baffling that the club would say it was £32million, if that is a false figure then why would they say it? They stand to gain nothing but egg on their face if the true figure is in fact £42million.

It takes until about half way through the article until the actual police quotes are given that show what a load of horse shit the article is.

'[We] can confirm that officers involved in the policing of the football match last night between Everton and Manchester City came across a minor verbal confrontation between football supporters after the game in the area of Priory Road, at around 10pm.

'Following police attendance, the crowd was safely dispersed.

'At this stage, no reports or complaints have been received by the Force.'

I hear you mate. Given the slant journalists have had against us this make sense, but I am not certain that therefore everything journalists report about the club our fans don't like is inherently incorrect because the club reports something different. The Lampard situation last season is an example of this as well. Let's be real. I tried to find ways to explain it to myself but clearly we tried to put our intentions under the radar, or when we became more interested in keeping him for the whole season we changed the story. City are generally one of the best run clubs but we are not necessarily perfect angels. It's big business and a lot it at stake.

If a journalist cites a source inside the club that "confirmed" the 42 million fee I think it is at least something to consider, but something to not be believed at all? Use of anonymous sources is a highly common way for journalists to put out information that someone wants to be kept from the public. As much as I want to believe the club, all businesses are going to want to slant public perception in their favour. It's normal.

I think we don't know really what the fee actually was, but it may very well be more than what City reported after information was leaked later last season, and it is not too shocking given the ridiculous issues with 3rd party ownership. It's possible an extra 10 million was in relation to add ons, or someone else with rights claimed/showed they were owed it and the club possibly preferred to pay them than create an even worse situation. If it's 42, it's 42. Maybe it's 32. Maybe it's in between. It doesn't matter anymore anyway.

Fair points, chief.

It is not a question of what I want to be true though. It is not my money so I have no interest in what the fee was. It is simply a question of whose opinion I trust more, the people who paid the fee or a journalist, who more than likely has an anti-City/pro-sky 4 agenda as so many of them do. The only journalist who I would set any store by whatsoever when it comes to City is Martin Samuel. The rest I wouldn't feed to our cat.

Fictitious prices regarding our players, who'd have thunk it!

Even funnier when they try to spin our players sold values.

I even seen a story a few weeks back stating that we would still be paying Adeybayors wages if he went on loan from Spurs!

I suppose it depends on your disposition.

It's all about the Arse this season as they're seen as the team to stop us winning it. They scored three nice goals to be fair....but Sergio, wow !!
I'm happy that we are seen as underdogs by the media once again it suits us better. If Aguero stays fit for the rest if the season I think we will have a chance at more than one trophy but I'd settle for one....the premiership !!

Over here the last two weeks I've turned on thetelly to see the goals from round the games and both times we've been left off. Last night arse and United got shown and yet they were the only two games reviewed on fox sports news. It sucks.
Tracking back is overrated.

The fee we paid for De Bruyne is rising rapidly. By the time we get to the summer it will be recorded as £70m.

We are now at £58m

No doubt a coincidence £58m is the fee for Martial and that the media are not in any way trying to cover up that

To be fair, if KDB was playing for that rabble he'd be sweeping midfield with 0 and 0

Playing devil's advocate ... That's quite a good record for a 19 year old.
I agree that the price tag is ludicrous for an unproven player, but he is very promising. I just hope they will put too much pressure on him and that he fades out à la Januzai.

I think the point is that if City had paid that amount for him you can guarentee the media would be saying he is doing no where near enough.
