Gone Now/'Liverpool Moment'

Postby Alioune DVToure » Sun Feb 14, 2016 6:49 pm

We got a large slice of steamy shit handed to us today. We possibly didn't deserve to win but we definitely didn't deserve to lose.

Looking on the bright side, perhaps the sense of injustice and the fact that everyone is writing us off can be the kick up the arse the squad so desperately needs. There are so many parallels to the game at Liverpool two years ago - when Suarez should not have remained on the pitch and their fans celebrated like they'd won the league. Yes, we have to leapfrog three teams rather than one but we only have to make up six points. It wouldn't be a City title win anyway if we didn't have to come back from the dead.

Almost a third of the season to go, and I'm sure we're coming out of our shittest patch. Keep the faith. Let's fuck the lot of them just like we did to the Rags and the Dippers in '12 and '14.

Today has been and gone. Yes, we got stiffed. Time to channel the anger.

The biggest parallel is the identity of the referee.

Sorry I couldn't leave it at that (the ref comment above). I agree with just about everything you've said here. I still think (as I have said elsewhere) we can do this.

It's isn't over by a long shot. Teams will lose points and like you say this might be the kick up the arse we need.

Had we played all season with the same humph that we did today we wouldn't be fourth.

Whilst it doesn't feel like it on a day like today I still am not chucking the towel in and have some belief.
I haven't a fecking clue what I'm doing! Gillie come back man I want my sig back. As the Photobucket thingy gone?

As I said last week, 3 points off the lead st the end of March and we will be right in it; nothing's changed really.

I also agree with you. Sometimes I have the feeling that our squad is full of bottlers. We buckle under pressure and don't do well as favourites. We need to be written off, to fight against the odds, to virtually have no chance, in order to dare to go for it.

You could be right .
But we may not even get fourth if the officiating continues in the same vein.

We'll need a level playing field if we stand any chance.
It's fucking ridiculous I even have to state that, but that's now a major contributing factor.

I really hope you're right but I feel the Pep announcement has had the opposite effect on us - instead of players playing for their futures under him, they've decided to down tools for the current boss (although you could have said that last season). I just can't see us beating the likes of Liverpool and Chelsea away and Arsenal & Rags at home - not on today's form, even though it was an improvement on last week's debacle.

Yeah but don't you think the players knew anyway behind the scenes? Also need to take into account the fact Pellegrini is a truly hopeless manager who's been stealing a living for the past 3 years.

Oh and I have my fingers crossed the OP is right but I just cannot see it myself. I can't even remember when we had played well, 50% of our squad is knackered and the other half is injured.

But who knows. We were once downing whiskey in a pub with the crew members after we thought we had lost it but fast forward couple of months and we were the champions.
I am not holding my breath this time tho as I just can't see how we could drop less points than our rivals

We have the dippers, villa then Notwich. We will need 9 points but with Navas, Bony, Mangala and Sagna nearing fitness it's just possible. The Arsenal/ Spuds derby is just around the corner too.

we're our own biggest enemies right now ... and I think it will be that way through the rest of the season.

I think some of our weaknesses have been hidden in amongst the low quality of opposition over last season and the one before. We've had great moments, and played some brilliant stuff in that time, but I think what we are seeing this season is our team shape and key players being a bit found out. Mix in injuries to big players, and everyone has been in stop start mode since the beginning of the season.

If we can put together a run, we will be right up there come the end of the season. it doesn't matter what other teams do, they will drop points. We have to get our heads right, and we have to play with some passion.

I think today is a turning point. We may have played the game before today but we will be under no illusions of what we need to do. Fucked over too many times, if we have Vince and Zab's I'm confident that even against 12 men, we'll come good*.

*That all depends on how many players we have left on the pitch

I agree with that. I don't think the team have downed tools all of a sudden.
I still live in hope that if by any means possible we manage to hang in there until the end of March, with a full fit squad, we may see the desire that we are used to in the last 7-8 games.

We've been getting kicked up the arse regularly since West Ham at home. Apart from the initial 5 game run at the start of the season we have not strung any sort of run together. We're now getting to the point where it's now or never. Not out of it but in the two seasons we won it we had played well and had some good spells. This season ive yet to see anything that makes me believe we'll go on that run. Nobody to blame but ourselves if we don't win it.
Balotelli......that's a brilliant finish.
