Nowhere near as bad as the moaning wankers on here suggest

Come off it. He's rubbish. 3 of the goals scored today were down to his poor keeping

Keepers don't need to be rotated it's nonsense.

Could not agree more. I am a big fan of Pellegrini but if Caballero plays next Sunday and he puts in a performance like today again I would advocate biting the bullet and sacking him.

Really?

And put Kidd in charge for the rest of the season while we are still trying to win the League, and move to the next round of the CL (despite what some of our fans want).

That's straight up suicide, and I like Kidd.

I'm assuming we have also had a bad result in Kiev. The PL has gone for me, I know we are still mathematically in it but we aren't playing like champions and haven't done for some time. Therefore the League cup final takes on extra importance and as such should be treated as such. Playing a guy who is out of form is suicide in a position as important as goalkeeper. That for me would be the final straw.

Of course he might play and be brilliant. Football can be a funny old game like that. I'd prefer Hart to play myself. We owe Caballero nothing. He knows the score and seeing how he is unlikely to be here next season it doesn't matter if he is pissed off

On Willy being in goal against the Dippers this Sunday...

He's been bloody awful since day one. I recall seeing him first in a pre season friendly in Scotland. Might have been at Dundee or similar. He put in a poor display in a game we lost and yes we paid about £7m for him. Panto was a much better keeper.
Wr absolutely must not play him on Sunday.

If Caballero had a dozen games on the bounce, I reckon he'd be fine. But that's not going to happen, so leave him out in the final, please.

The League Cup is our best chance of silverware at the moment so Hart has to play.

It is going to cost me a lot of money next weekend and I expect something back.

It would be a huge error IMO to select him next Sunday, but "one of the worst managers in our history"? Not even close.

Did he help get us to the final? We've been here before when Joe was chosen even though he didn't play before.

Willy, with as decent set-up in front of him, can do a good job. As good as Joe though, not really.

Yes, if we can prevent them from getting anywhere near our box then he might do a good job.

I'd rather put extra striker in and play without keeper than put this clown in.

Pellers please play Hart. This is our biggest chance of silverware, give us the best possible chance to win it.

It's a disgrace we actually paid money for Malaga to sign him.

Our back-up keeper should have 100% been a youngster (is Gunn the best of the kids?). Would not be any worse and would not have taken any of those foreign player spots in Europe. Can't wait to see the back of this joker

Where does he rank with some of our other custodians? Immel? Margetson?

He must rank amongst the worst. Can honestly say that if he starts next Sunday I won't watch. He is that bad.

Immel was a good stopper close in. If the ball came from outside the area I think he had focus issues. Margetson was awful, Dibble was worse. He's up there with them.

He gets so little game time ! the keeper that I saw at cfMalaga, a lot to be honest is not the one we see, he was outstanding, now he is just standing as per the free kick. No fucking way can he play in a cup final, if you want to win it, Sadly he is a mistake waiting to happen he has to be overlooked. If we lose to a mistake and that is a real possibility the media will kill him and us for weeks. Sorry the world is watching again do not fuck it up again !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! PELLERS..

I think it's harsh to compare him to other awful keepers from past seasons who had a run of more than a handful of games.

The fact that he might get better given a run in the team doesn't help us though, as it makes him unsuited to a back-up role. He's also foreign and I imagine far too expensive for the shit he's served up so far.

The club does not owe him anything, so obviously he should only play in case Hart gets injured or suspended and then binned in the summer.

It's not helpful for him that most games he plays in we're playing only half a side so any understanding in the outfield players is vastly reduced.

However, he's barring a couple of saves been poor to shit most if the time on the pitch.

His positioning yesterday was awful for the free kick, he almost spooned one in the first half and his save was straight at him, saved a pen but if you guess right you'll always have a chance.

Won't be here next season, out of form, get Hart in. If pellers insists on as usual playing him 2 games on the bounce play him in Kiev we'll have a home game to get it right.

The Coca Cola cup is probably our only realistic chance of a trophy and pellers last chance of silverware with us. Get Hart in.

My wife who knows nothing about football was texting me from home during the game to tell me how terrible he is. About sums it up for me when a complete novice thinks a goalkeeper is crap. The worst thing was him saving the penalty might be the excuse Pellers needs to keep him in.

http://www.theguardian.com/football/blo ... ifth-round

1) City’s Caballero is too big a risk for cup final

With all the focus on Manuel Pellegrini’s team selection, the post-match reaction to the heaviest defeat in Manchester City’s Abu Dhabi era largely overlooked the fact that some of the least impressive performances came from their senior players. Martín Demichelis was once a centre-half of high reputation but those days have passed now and there is also strong evidence that Pablo Zabaleta, the outstanding right-back in the Premier League a few years ago, is in decline. More than anyone, though, Willy Caballero always gives City’s opponents the sense that Pellegrini’s team might be vulnerable. A City game never looks like it is going to be a stress-free occasion when Caballero is chosen ahead of Joe Hart and it must be slightly disconcerting for the club’s supporters that Pellegrini says he will persist with the former Málaga goalkeeper in the Capital One Cup final against Liverpool on Sunday. Caballero saved Oscar’s penalty but it is beginning to feel like a trick of the mind that the Argentinian was signed to give Hart genuine competition. The final is City’s most realistic chance of silverware and it would be a needless risk on the part of Pellegrini to start with him at Wembley. Or, to put it another way, it is fair to say Liverpool’s supporters will be desperately hoping Pellegrini keeps to his word. Daniel Taylor
