I never want City to lose but imho going out now in the CL is our last chance of getting our league campaign back on track as it would force the players to focus on Prem... so if that happens then so be it.

This is a huge night for the club and I should be excited but I am still so furious their "efforts" in the league that I can't get in the mood for this one.

Had we won v Norwich and also if Villa and Newcastle had by some long shot, both also won, then that would have been my sentiment as well. As it goes, the results now dictate the PL is highly unlikely to impossible to win so this now becomes our chance to make waves in Europe.

All systems go tonight and a win puts us in a good frame of mind for Sunday as well.

I see this competition, and Pellegrini's approach to it as a millstone around our necks now.

If we go through tonight, barring a miracle we will get embarrassed in the next round - at least two additional high profile games which Pellegrini will prioritise above the league and get fuck all from. We aren't ready to beat any of the teams left over 2 legs, or fight a war of attrition to the final the way De Matteo's Chelsea did a few years back.

We need to get 4th place above all else, and I worry that Pellegrini has a conflict of interest - if he tries all out for the Champions League and fails (as it's probably his last chance with a top club), to the detriment of qualifying for next year's competition he's a clown, and in all honesty, at this stage if the club's hierarchy support that approach, they are fucking idiots.

I'd not shed a tear if Kiev turn up and fucking maul us tonight. A happy consequence of that might be Pellegrini getting the bullet and someone with a bit of get up and go getting the players up for a few of the upcoming games. I do feel horrible saying that about him, but that would be the best outcome for all concerned at this stage.

What the fuck have I just read?

Months ago I put my money where my mouth is.
16/1 for us to win the CL because this is the way I was reading it (based on on-field performances):

Pellers takes his orders from the top - as in any job.
CL was top priority this season for the hierarchy
Mgmt and coaches planned accordingly
Players don't care about the PL (just look at the performances) because:
1. they kopped onto the priorities
2. have 2 PL titles in the bag already
3. have never won (YaYa excluded) and is a last shot at CL for several of them
4. several on the way out at end of season, etc...

Prediction: City will turn up tonight i.e. get through to the QF.
In the QF they will not be rolled over by anybody and that includes Barca.
They might lose but they will not be rolled over - why? - because they will try and when great players try - anything can happen
A kind draw and they are in poll position to make the semis - and anything can happen then.
Key players must be fit though - Joe, Kompany, YaYa, Silva, Kun and if Brown is back - well he is a game changer - just fantastic
(and Nasri is sorely missed - not everybody can be King Kong. You need King Kongs to protect the artists)

That is my opinion - looking forward to the saga unfolding.

BTW:
The one thing that is a problem is at the very core of this team there is something missing.
This lack of 'something' is putting 4th place at risk.
Like when they had Kiev buried and allowed them back in - before they stepped it up again - lazy, arrogance, soft, etc... - I don't know what it is.....
Maybe we need a couple of players with vile personality attributes - like Keane and Eric - to give us that ruthless edge?

We desperately need a hard man in the middle. Someone like Norman Hunter or Tommy Smith or (dare I say it) Keane. We had it with de Jong but IMHO this problem has not been addressed since he left us.

Other sides need to feel our presence not just watch us prettily tippy tapping round the edges!

We are beginning to look like soft porn.

Europe is important whether we like it or not.
Every win improves our coefficient. If we get more points that the shite this year we overtake them. We need Pot 2 being as we're not going to win the league.
I don't think we'll lose by three tonight, the danger is if we carry on in a cautious manner and invite Kiev onto us.
A kind draw if we get through and we could still be looking at a huge end to the season.
The Chumps is clearly our priority so I think maybe we should just embrace it.

What we need is Barry - we should never have let him go - not an out and out hard man but a telepathic fucler who got where he was needed before he was even needed there, and wasn't afraid to let the odd elbow fly for the good of the team.

On the PL front I would suggest that Leicester's last three games are eminently loseable and if we are by some miracle within four or five points at that stage anything could happen.
Get through tonight without any fuss...beat the scum on Sunday....get a good draw for the quarters and we will all have a smile back on our faces and a spring in our step. The drama ain't over yet !!!!
