Thought the same until Willy pulled off those saves.

I am more worried about his chances going to the Euro. Perfect chance for the media sweetheart, Butland.

For us, I trust Big Willy to step up.

I have already half resigned myself to us not being in CL next season. I'm just a very pessimistic half empty glass guy. I'm thinking without Hart, the confidence might drain further from the team and we might slump further still and miss out on Europa. Before we say great, shit competition, think how that might affect the transfer dealings that are in the pipeline already and those to be determined. Players want European football and Pep alone is not a big enough draw I don't think.

That's not to say Caballero will suddenly start to concede lots and I don't think he will. Its more of a psychological issue, rather like Kompany being out. The stats say that when Kompany plays we win more and concede less than when he doesn't. This then filters down to the players who are on the back foot before they have started. We have to play both Ferns as cover which limits our attacking options which in turn leads to more pressure on the defence as we don't attack as much. Catch 22. Hart is a big influence on and off the pitch.

It matters little really, the season is all but over. PSG will make a laughing stock.of us and we won't bother to fight for 4th.
Hart might as well take the rest of the season off, just like his colleagues.

Who gives a fuck? His distribution is dreadful. Willy gets the ball out much better. That throw out today was better than anything Hart did. I'm not down on Hart, but the keeper isn't our problem really.

Not sure why we're all so worried about top 4 and chumps league. We all seem to hate chumps league anyway, and Pep coming and focusing on the PL, the competition we actually care about, could be good.

I for one am concerned about Europe. I personally don't care for the competition. But, players do. They want to play in it. Thus if we are not in it it might mean not getting the calibre of replacements in during the summer. I think we need at least four, if not more, new faces in the summer.

Plus sponsors like the exposure the CL gives them

Fair point. But if we don't get it, which looks most likely, we'll have to rely on the pulling power of Pep and his new project.

As mentioned further up the thread, I doubt the pulling power of Pep alone will be enough for the likes of Lewandowski. Or Neymar. Or Reus. Or Stones. Or a lot of the truly top names we should be after. It might, but European football will help no end

We ain't finishing in the Top 4 and are going to get embarrassed by PSG.

Everything built during the last 7yrs has been destroyed in the space of the last 7 months.

Its a new start , its going to cost a fortune , but make no mistake it is going to happen.

I have a lot more faith in Willy now than I did have, not that all of a sudden he's become a world beater. I think the Final gave him a lot of confidence, also showed the crowd were on his side, and in the end, now he feels like one of the team.

Tbh, that is less a concern than the CB issues, the style of play, and lack of goals right now. I'm sure Willy will not go out with the attitude half the team have.

If Richard Wright is on the bench against bournemouth and not Gunn. I am going to write the club and tell them to stick the academy up their arse

Willy will do ok its the 2 playing directly in front that worry me. We have 4 senior centre backs 1 world class but always injured and 3 that are shite. We do have a Belgian kid(Denayer) loaned out though who won awards playing for Celtic last year. Work that one out???? Smells like Pellegrini.

Agreed Gunn is an absolute must to be on the bench before Wright and you can add my name to any letter you write. Not holding my breath though
