Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

Melbourne are not at the races so far in this first half. Perth are much the better side. Melbourne are lucky to still be 0-0 and they need to win as all the other sides have picked up a win around them

Mediocre first half by City. Will need a 2nd half similar to City's first half yesterday to come away with the 3 points !

A good fight back by City but unfortunately it was bit late and not enough.

Perth well worth the win. Castro was pretty special.

That's a shame. What's good for CFG is good for City.

yeah it is a shame, but they were crap yesterday, just at the time they needed to be good, they had one hand on the trophy too.

Yeah but they can take heart ( see what I did there? ) from their season, they're only going to get stronger.

City get their revenge on Perth when it counts more. 2 nil and into the semi final of playoffs against Adelaide on Friday.
If NYFC had got a result this morning, it would have been a perfect day for all Cities !

Cracking first goal. Overhead kick. Saw about last twenty minutes of first half. Decent game as it happened

Last time against Adelaide in Adelaide they won 1-0 but blew it at home against them so it could go either way imo. I have watched most of MCs games this season and they have improved dramatically as the season as gone on the defence was abysmal early on but seems a lot tighter now and with Fornarolli up front they will always score goals in that league.

Interested in the Aussie posters view on how their league format works. Do you want to win the league or prefer the grand final, which is the most prestigious?
Strange format TBH
Seasons run from October to May and include a 27-round regular season and an end-of-season finals series playoff tournament involving the highest-placed teams, culminating in a grand final match. The winner of the regular season tournament is dubbed 'premier' and the winner of the grand final is 'champion'. This differs from the other major football codes in Australia, where 'premier' refers to the winner of the grand final and the winner of the regular season is the 'minor premier'. The A-League's non-standard terminology is reflective of the increased prestige associated with winning the regular season in association football compared to other football codes in Australia.

Doesn't sound too different from the Super League format over here. The only real winners are the winners of the Grand Final. The league winners get a shield and prestige but the glory and accolades go to the Grand Final winners

That's pretty much it. They won't change it because the biggest crowds by far are in the final series. I was hoping the introduction of the ffa cup would eliminate the need for this, but they don't appear to want to go that way. It does however mean a little more since we joined the Asian champions league as 1st place and gf winner each get a spot.
Tracking back is overrated.
