He's away, he probably had one lying around and he threw it on. I wore a fucking horrendous jumper I bought a few years ago because it was cold and I saw it at the bottom of my wardrobe, I realised I looked like a twat but I wore it anyway. Doesn't mean I'm gonna start wearing it on a regular basis.
This. Some of you guys are such drama queens, I don't give a fuck about what he is wearing. It's a nice polo shirt and I heard he also wears Villa shirts from time to time. And like most people already said he probably was not thinking about what he was wearing, it was just an old shirt that he had lying around in Togo. Honestly, get off his back.

this is sooooo yesterdays news, the only people in the lightest bit bothered about this are the fans and possibly the hierarchy at MCFC. It will not even be remembered this time next week, apart from the odd opposition fan on a wind up.

By the way, this was posted on the BBC forums:
As many people have seen Adebayor was on Sky Sports News tonight wearing an old Arsenal polo shirt. This means in no uncertain terms that he wants to leave the club with the most potential and prospect of future success.
Adebayor is clearly not bothered that City can offer him the most money, as he's not a mercenary any more apparently, he just wants to leave, so he wore an Arsenal shirt, not because he wants to re-join Arsenal, apparently they only re-sign quality players who are still in their prime.
He's also not bothered about the fact that City have a, so far, impressive new manager with a huge transfer kitty to spend and the prospect of Champions League football next season. He wants to go and thought the best way of advertising this would be to wear his old team's shirt.
This was not a mistake caused by the fact that he's recently gone through the worst experience of his life and as such has had to return to his native Togo where he has no Manchester City clothing, only old Arsenal clothing as he has not returned for a while. It has nothing to do with the fact that he will not be bothered about what he is wearing, more about how he and his team mates are feeling.
It also has nothing to do with the Togo fan who gave him the Arsenal shirt, not realising he'd moved clubs, and Adebayor subsequently wore it as not to offend the Togolese boy.
Goodbye Adebayor.
Please take special note of the last paragraph... now I don't know if this is true but if it is a lot of people on here should be eating humble pie for a while...

I can understand completely why some people are fuming over this but ask yourself this; Would you like to be the one to go up to Ade when he gets back and ask him what he was thinking when he put that top on? After what he's been through? Can you imagine where his head is right now? I can tell you from experience of being shot at and losing friends that you don't really give a flying fuck what you look like, what other people think of you and you do not take too kindly to people critisising you for any failures, especially from people who haven't been through the same experience as you.
I personally will cut him some slack and support him to the hilt on this one. On any other occasion i would be as livid as some on here but not after what he's seen and experienced.

He's definitely a bit of an airhead so he probably just dug a shirt out of his case that someone else had packed for him, so I wouldn't worry about that.
However I can never tell a word the fella says, I have to read the newspaper transcripts!

Yes it's a PR mistake by a bloke in utter turmoil. Who fucking cares what shirt he's wearing? Is it not more important to notice how dishevelled & hollow he looks, have some sympathy & hope he manages to recover mentally from his ordeal?

Anyone who actually saw the interview will see how genuinely fucked up and sad adey is at the moment, an error in judgement, sure, in other circumstances I would be fuming as well, in the instance I can, and will, cut the guy some slack

Its just one of those things you don't do.
And while I will cut him slack because of his ordeal, it doesn't escuse it.

What he said. If you can compose yourself to speak to the worlds media you are fully aware that you are wearing an Arsenal shirt when you are a Manchester City player - sorry Mr Adebayor, but it just isn't done.
