He looked completely ineffective when I saw him last week. If Roque is knackered we need a signing imo & a real quality one. We don't know what we'll get from Ade now, he looked a mess on tv, he could come back glad to be alive or a shambles. We can't go through the rest of the season without a proper CF. That's what ruined us last season & will again.
Agree 100% with that. If there is any truth in these reports re Roque then we have to go hard for another striker sharpish

Ted Hughes wrote:If this is true we need to sign another striker quickly & take legal action against whoever did the medical. I find it surprising we'd be bringing him on for 10 mins with a knee injury though & also he looked really sharp & outpaced Blackburn's defenders, which must be a big worry for them in that case. I thought it was a calf injury that had kept him out?
Yes it was supposedly a 'calf spasm' that kept him out after Sunderland.

I like Rocky and was amazed at his turn of pace with that run and shot the other night , but if this is to be believed it´s rapidly turning into a fuclin bad joke

Thats mad, I thought he looked really sharp - its weird how folk see completely different things when watching a football match!
I hope to fuck its not true, because I think he looks back to his best and that is definitely something we could do with right now, what with Ade heading to the emirates and all ;)

He did OK Monday by doing the simple stuff and putting himself about.
However if we are serious about finishing fourth and winning a Cup, then Benjani should have little or no role to play in it.

Maybe that's why it took him 17 hours to react to Robinson spilling Robinho's shot?
Thought he would've finished that off but it was like he couldn't turn, he was like a crab.
Shame, cos he looked quality against Sunderland

However, with Roque Santa Cruz nursing a knee injury
I think the key word is nursing. He was nursing it the last few weeks and apparently the test run shows he has not recovered. I would read it to mean it is lingering and he is not fully fit, not a new or worsened injury.
I've come here to chew bubblegum and kick ass... and I am all out of bubblegum.

2 weeks according to our trusty daily 'La Nacion', of Paraguay. Today's report says:
http://www.lanacion.com.py/noticias-287253.htmRoque - out for 2 weeks
The forward suffers tendonitis in the left knee (DIFFERENT TO YESTERDAY'S REPORT)
Manuel Aguilar, Paraguay team doctor, said yesterday that the latest injury of Santa Cruz isn't so bad as it seems, although he indicated that he will have to rest for 2 weeks.
Today the City forward returns to Britain after undergoing tests in Barcelona, confirming tendonitis in the left knee.
The footballer stayed at the Clinica Cerede (Sporting rehabilitation clinic), where he was subjected to a recovery method called EPI (some sort of electolysis) under the guidance of Jose Manuel Sanchez. One thing I would observe is that the Paraguay stories are always aimed at the World Cup, whereas City's priorities will be different of course. If we can get him through the season when needed, with injections or whatever, then to be brutally honest we dont give a monkeys about the world cup.

Hughes presumably
he did
assisted by Nurse Bowen and Theatre Sister Niedzweicki
I heard it was the Sheik himself so he could be sure he wasn't wasting his money
Wonder if Santa Cruz's insurance is pro-rated??

because....
He's a City player now
When he has played there have been enough signs that we have a talented guy (even if granted his injury record is terrible...and continues to look terrible)
We are loaded and it is irrelevant that we spent a fortune
Mark Hughes has gone and so your constant banging on about it being his fault (whilst being accurate) is also fucking irrelevant
I'm more interested in getting our player on the pitch than bleating about the fact that he's our player

I can understand why we used to sometimes buy decent players with dodgy injury records - it was the only way we could afford the decent players, we had to take a risk. Why we would sign such players now and why for such big money? Yes we have access to riches but we are supposed to be working towards balancing the books too. You can understand why Marwood was reportedly questioning Hughes's judgement on the RSC signing!

I can fully understand why Hughes wanted him because he's one of the best at his job but I can't understand why he passed a medical if he's got long term injuries. Surely they should know which types of injuries clear up & which don't & just tell Hughes he can't sign him if he's likely to be out injured all the time.
Of course this is presuming the reports are accurate & he doesn't end up playing the next 10 games. Would explain why Benjani's in the team though.
