Bravo or Willy

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

Bravo, Pep wouldn't have bought him if he did not know that he was better than willy.
But as mentioned its an area that needs a little thought for the future. Hart will not be back that's for sure.

At that point in time, it won't matter who we have in goal, it will all be academic but, until then, Bravo for me.

To be honest, under Peps system, in order to get 80% or even 65% possession, the goalkeeper will be fundamental to achieving this. Decent and quick distribution and retaining possession are two key things and the goalkeeper is responsible for the first.

Whether the goalkeeper in a couple of years is still Bravo or Gunn or someone else, it will still be crucial to the make up of our style of play

It worked a treat, I can imagine Joe Hart watching and saying "I can do that better".

Bravo went long quite a bit against the Baggies too, 12 long balls in all according to Whoscored.

Bravos long balls generally hit their intended targets, Joe / Willy generally hit a poor unsuspecting fan in the face (well at home, away - fuck em)

I may be totally barking up the wrong tree, but I get the impression he's a stopgap.

Could be a two season stop gap though.
Angus isn't ready yet. Could overtake Willy though next year.

Isn't this all in place for that keeper we have the buyback clause on?

Some of the passes Bravo makes are amazing. Me and Lee at the game were like Wow the other week with one he made to Fern against Everton. He is able to split lines and get us on the front foot very quickly.

I think he has done ok and is only getting a hard time due to people's love for Joe Hart. IMO he just needs a little bit of time and fans to stay off his back. I like what I see with him and think he will only get better.

Rulli, hedging our bets is the way I see it, Bravo works out then we don't excercise that option to buy, he doesn't work out then we bring in Rulli and pit him against Gunn, it's all in good hands ( pun intended ).

I totally agree with this. I started this thread tongue in cheek to be honest.
That said, i am very happy to have a capable and loyal back-up, such as Willy. Like someone else wrote in this thread, if he were good enough to be a starter in a top club, he would be. However, he (almost) always does a good job for us when called upon.

Willy's far from trustworthy IMO. He's passionate and he's as capable as anyone on his good days but his lows are very low. A stable second keeper should be able to go in and perform evenly, albeit not as good as the first keeper of course.

Couldnt agree more.

When our resident goalkeeper specialist says Bravo's done OK and that his line splitting passes are amazing we should take note, she has not passed that verdict lightly.

I'm just saying I think a longer term plan is in place already, looking at the next decade instead of the next couple of years.

100% agree with this. Within 2 years we will have another ball playing younger version and people need to accept this while Pep is in charge. Joe Hart is wonderful shot stopper and has many good attributes to his game but he also has huge flaws. I do miss him but I fully understand why Pep off loaded him.

I reckon he was under more pressure though.

It's Bravo all the way. Looking forward to seeing Gunn play at some point though.

Perhaps but if a City keeper had conceded that DeBruyne free kick he'd be torn to shreds, as good a strike as it was.

Bravo. But just wish he'd switch it up a bit as he invites so much pressure.

Was thinking the same. Didn't want to bring it up because the mood on here was so good but the goalkeeping seemed a bit poor from me, regardless of the ball's trajectory.

However you dress it up bravo so far has a clanger in him every game and as has been pointed out clearly is only a stop gap and not the long term plan.
