Man City Ladies v Brondby IF

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

Man City Ladies v Brondby IF

Postby Beefymcfc » Wed Nov 09, 2016 6:49 pm

Last 16 of the CL tonight at the CFG. Good luck to the girls who have done exemptionally well this season already. Tried looking for a listung on Sky/BT, not showing but I believe they're streaming it through Facebook.

Anyway, for those who need a City fix in the international break, this is a good opportunity.

That link does nothing. Fucking Faecesbook is a dog's dinner at the best of times. Is there a link DIRECT to the video?

Mrs found it here, first post of the page. Had to get the laptop out though, wouldn't work on the tablet. Or possibly because I'm not signed up to the page?

Had the majority of the play and a couple of chances but Brondby are coming into it a little now, forcing a good save from us.

Found a link now further down the page but it's not very reliable - one frame every 12 seconds after a few minutes of live action. I detest Faecesbook.

1-0 to us with 10 mins to go. Get a look at the goal if you can it's a cracker. The kind of goal our first team doesn't score.

Was z good game for us and created the majority of chances yet a bit of a wonder goal to win the tie. Brondby seemed to do what many teams do in the men's game, park the bus and try and hit us on the break.

Was a little disappointed with the officials, they did seem to favour the away team with their multiple cynical fouls and giving them the decision when it should've clearly gone our way. Reminded me, again, like the men's game.

Overall, a good performance and something to play for over there.

It was jolly cold, didn't like the Phil Brown circle antics by the coach on the pitch after full time. They'll probably say it was a warm down but it looked like someone trying to advertise his motivational gesture range.

Strange game that. Brondby hardly attacked at all but Karen Bardsley was almost player of the match with 3 superb saves. They definitely came to stop us scoring and they nearly made it too. If their keeper wasn't just 4 feet tall she would probably have stopped Keira's shot from over 30 yards out!

For me it was another game where we just lacked that quality in the final third. Good defensively, decent in midfield in terms of winning the ball and simple passing but just lacking quality on the final ball. You just cannot fault the effort these girls put in but we are just never going to score many.

Jane Ross is having a bad spell at the mo and the 2 golden chances she had in the 2nd half summed it up. One on one with the keeper , she goes round her and instead of rolling the ball 5 yards or so into an empty net she took another touch to get the ball onto her right foot and she was blocked. Then a cross from Lucy needed turning in but she missed the ball with her right and it hit her left foot.

Overall a good result as we got a clean sheet and we can definitely score in the away leg.

A 21st clean sheet tonight sees the lasses through. 20/26 is an awesome stat.

Assume away goals count double? If so they need two more

Congratulations to the women for progressing 2-1 on aggregate. They remain the only British team in the competition.

Quarter finalists is an achievement in itself, but semi finalists would be even better...

Well deserved as we were far the better side. Again the final third let us down a bit although we did have one scrambled off the line , one headed off the line and hit the bar before Duggan's special strike. Shame we gifted them a soft one straight all Brondby offered was a long hopefull ball into the middle where Houghton and especially Beattie were dominant.
