Mancini Or Hughes, Which One Would You Have

I am more thasn happy to put my neck on the line and am more than happy to nail NQDP with the accusation of having different standards.
In the initial skirmishes of the Hughes debate, Antti was quite content to use a number of nonsensical tactics to slate Hughes. From the very beginning I was always convinced and still am that the ONLY reason Hughes was persona non grata in his head was his ex rag career.
Argument used against Hughes in those initial debates were based on LIES...and...FEARS MADE UP IN HIS OWN MIND THEN TREATED AS TRUTH...further to that...several accusations made against Hughes were BASED ON RUMOUR then TWISTED to suit the anti agenda.
It was only as games were lost and tactics questioned that a debate based on rational argument took place.
None of this is sensational...I quite openly stated this opinion openly on here at the time.

What DISGUSTS me now is that having got some semblance of peace and unity behind a new manager. Antti is starting new topics, simply digging up old burnt out issues that have already been analysed fully, discussed to death and scraping the scabs of old sores to open up the wounds again.
Antti, you are doing your level best AGAIN to push people into opposing camps. You are well aware that it is far too early and there is insufficent evidence after only 4 games to even begin a rational debate containing Mancini. You are clever enough to understanfd that so come clean...WHAT ARE YOUR TRUE MOTIVES for opening wounds?

It is a really stupid thread - I would not be surprised if some / all the hughes votes were based on people being pissed off at NQDP indulging himself at everyone's else expense just cos he was looking a dick in a different thread - bit of baconface(esque) diversionary tactics

two points I would make:

1/ Shows a number of us here are just CITY Manager supporters because we are just CITY fans - so now Hughes has gone we are behind Mancini

2/ Up to very recently I was 100% confident of us going through to the CC final - the team would have been totally totally up for it - the passion / workrate etc would have been all there - and simply put we have a far better team / squad - I am now far less confident than I was - that is no criticism of Mancini - just a concern as to whether he will understand the importance to the fans - will he appreciate the focus that baconface will give it - this is a time to be right at them from the whistle - blood and guts with skill - not some game of chess

the only concerns i have about Mancini's ability to perform in the semi revolve around injuries. he's coached in Milan and knows what a big derby means to fans and communities, don't you think? he said so himself this week in pretty clear terms on a vid interview on the OS as well i think.

and i disagree with yr statement that this is not a game of chess. it surely is in my mind.

Not voting, way too early for something like this. I haven't read the thread (bar this page) but it seems shit stirring is afoot.

I'm happy enough to see what Mancini is doing, especially with a bit of a mishmash squad what with some being out for one reason or another. I'm liking what I see, and as I stated in the everton match thread, I was not nearly as depressed as I was the Spuds game. It was just a shit night where injuries and Everton being pretty bloody good managed to do us in. I ended up feeling bizarrely positive about some aspects too. It's been a good many year since I could say that after a defeat.

But anyway, this is way too early. Unless something went disastrous or mindblowing, I'm not going to be thinking anything until Chrimbo if he's here for the longterm.

The poll asks who would we rather have Hughes or Mancini. At this stage I was happy to keep Hughes and saw the dismissal as a joke. He was on a target for the boards target etc.
The games Mancini won, I would have thought Hughes was capable of winning. Mancini impressed me with the away win at Wolves with the formation change, but I am not convinced that Petrov on the right is going to work long term. All this talk of Mancini bring back outcasts like Benjani and Garrido, we shall see, I cant see either getting a good look in 4 months time, especially when Garrido gets skinned by a fast right winger repeatedly.
One area Mancini did impress me was subbing Robinho, but he should never have been brought on in the first place to replace Santa, Benjani was a far more apprpriate choice.
As for Mancinis transfer record, well he has signed Vierra, hardly got me rushing to the stadium to get a name on the back of a shirt, and I am not overly impressed with some of his other targets.
