When will our next clean sheet happen?

When will our next clean sheet happen?

Postby Saul Goodman » Thu Dec 08, 2016 11:55 pm

As everyone knows the defense is staggeringly poor and resulted in only 2 League clean sheets the last of which came vs Brom in Oct. When will we get the next one? No more League Cup matches vs lower tier opponents. With the decrease in goals scored the club could really use a 1-0 or 2-0.

Bonus: which will happen first, 2 league clean sheets or a Navas goal?

Not sure I'd go as far as staggeringly poor, but it could be better. The last time we let in less than a goal per game in the league was our title winning season by the way.

We didn't keep a clean sheet versus Boro, we didn't even play them in September.

True. Boro equalised in injury time.

The general point is true in the OP though

True that, although I agree with Dameerto in that the use of the word 'staggeringly' is a tad ott.

A more settled back 4 in a 433 would be a start, not chopping and changing playing the likes of Sane at wing back etc etc.
We seem a long way off a settled defence yet, so i cant see that many clean sheets over the next 4-6 weeks at least.

We need goals much more than we need clean sheets.

Although not ideal personally I don't mind conceding an add goal here or there as long as we are scoring freely at the other end . The huge problem we currently have is we cant score , we are a bit of a mess right now but all said and done if KDB HADN,T MISSED that sitter from 2 yards last Saturday v the Chavs we would be top of the PL right now despite a bent rag ref doing his utmost to prevent it happening !!!
Not really here

Mangala is being sent back so maybe it will happen then. I think having Willy in goal will help but I really can't see us getting a clean sheet soon. The stats are not terrible but if you consider how much possession we have then we are easy to cut through. I'm more worried about having 4 wins in our last 14. The more we get familiar with what Pep wants the worse we seem to get. When Pep gets players in that can successfully play his system we will get more clean sheets then
