He mainly discussed after dinner speaking which is pretty common in football circles. He was foolish to put himself in that position whilst England manager, but the headlines were worse than the actual content of his discussion. A fine example of a newspaper creating extra drama to generate publicity.

There have been lots of stories over Sam Allardyce for years being involved in dodgy deals, and there may be truth to them. But when he was caught on camera recently the media hype greatly exaggerated what happened.

For Palace though, they've got a solid manager who will most likely keep them up.
