Better than Fernando. Probably a better option than Zaba in the middle of the park. He's only 25.

Or will Liverpool be sniffing with him at their feeder club currently?

Started off at Barca so Pep could already know him. He's better than Kante in my opinion so not sure why Chelsea let him go but bought Kante.

signed five year deal yesterday.

Im not sure the better than fernando yardstick should be used for players, we could end up with someone like Lee Cattermole!

Was only thinking this morning, a young gareth barry would be perfect in Peps system, we let him go about 2 years too early for abs no good reason.
derby day the scores were level,
then the goat was fed by neville,
silly boy should know for sure,
feed the goat and he will score!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Contract renewals mean fuck all these days. No reason why he couldn't move as soon as this transfer window

Really miss GazBaz, very underrated.

Him and Yaya in a two man Pellegrini midfield though? Nah, too slow.

Garcia got a decent chunk of time there and i have seen Milk turn quicker than him!

He started 11 PL games in midfield, at that stage in Barry's career a lack of regular playing time like that and he'd seize up.

Was super over the two legs with Liverpool and he had a good game against us. He's had a bit of a slow start to his career but really seems to be blossoming with a run in a decent team. He would add a bit of steal and physicality to our midfield which I think we lack at present.

So we should have forced Barry to sign an extension?

I've been really impressed with him every time I've seen him.

Like you say, we need a bit of grit and steal at the moment (amongst other things) and it's been a while since we had someone like that - de Jong maybe??

Indeed just ensures the selling club gets a transfer fee and in such circumstances a decent one. Always remember feeling so happy when swp signed a contract extension then left for Chelsea for a big fee.

He would have signed if we gave him assurances, worse case play him the last year of his contract instead of loaning him out, he would have done a decent job that season.

We tried to get him to sign an extension he didn't want to. We did just fine that season without him when he was on loan, won the League and League Cup.

You have a link to him turning down a contract? I dont recall that, seems odd we would offer him a contract and then pract give him away in next breath.

An interesting slip with the spelling Mase; it could be quite Freudian.

I'd love to 'steal' a few games whenever we get outplayed, by coming away with all the points.

A tough nut in midfield would be just the job and would be great in such instances when we're "under the cosh"..
