Hats off... Top draw tonight, didn't fall for any of their usual tactics.

yeah, he reffed well and let a lot of stuff go, which is better for the game

oh, and a marvellous decision for the penalty too.

A great display.

The stand out moment for me was when Rooney threw himself over theatrically outside our box and he just turned away.

Those niggling ankle kicks that they got away with last season were stamped out pronto as well. Top job.

Ref did well tonight, not in awe of the Rags by any stretch, if anything he went the other way; boy, did they not like it! How many tantrums and foot-stamps? Still not sure about the penalty, but at the end of the day if he hadn't been grabbing Bellamy's shirt it wouldn't have been given.

He pointed to the spot...that in itself was some of the greatest reffing I have ever seen.

Maybe them being skint has something to do with it...A plain brown envelope with only an IOU in it doesn't have the same pull with refs...:-)

Very good refereeing and not only for having given us a penalty, he controleld the game well even if some minor decisions I didn't agree with in the heat of the moment, but overall a very good display.

At the game I actually thought he was piss poor, especially for the penalty and corner that led to the goal. However, having watched it after getting in I thought he actually played well. Rafael did pull Bellers in the box and it did flick off a scum player for the corner, BBC told me ;-)

I watched the game on the beeb. They showed te oenalty situation about a thousand times, and I really couldn't see Rafa pulling Beller's arm or shirt in the oenalty area. That was a good bad call from the ref.

The corner leading to our second was correct, though.
