Got a bit misty eyed reading that. Thanks Carl.

Agreed. He was a joy to watch.
The only sad thing was we couldn't afford some other players who were on his wavelength. He would have thrived in Keegan's team.
It's a shame his career didn't kick on after he left us but great he still has such fond memories of his time with us.

Aye. He was one of the few reasons to watch City in the 90s.
Imagine how good he'd be in today's team. One thing we are missing is a player who can regularly beat his man other than Big Dave Silva. (And a tall striker option but that's for another thread.)
Always a joy to watch the video above (apart from the music, which is shit).

I have a suitcase in the loft full of old Match programs, one of them is a Gio Kinkladze Special still has the poster in the middle of it.![]()

A bit off topic this thought would share with you guys for laughs though.. I remember a Derby once at Maine Road with an early kick off. Dozens of City fans stood on the corner Platt Lane supping Holsten Pills at 10.00 am, getting to the ground, and finding the odd lot had thrown a cordon all around the ground. They were not letting anyone through the Police cordon without a membership card with their match ticket.
We all started flapping; the odd lot were having none of it. No one was getting through this cordon without a Membership card accompanying their Match ticket.![]()

Anyway maybe a hundred of us were stood at the end of Carlton Avenue starting to panic a bit. we quickly realised the Houses on Carlton Avenue backed on to the Ground with back Gates and yards. We walked down knocked on A door near the end of Carlton Avenue, a young woman answered, we offered her a pound each to let us walk through her House and out the back Door in to the Yard on to the Ground sure she says.
Was fucking hilarious, must have been a hundred plus City fans walking through this woman’s House,3 Kids sat on the settee watching Cartoons on the Television, well mannered Blues apologizing to the Kids whilst walking through the front Door past the TV the Kids were watching out the back door avoiding the police cordon. I can still see those kids wtf expressions to this day. fair play to that woman..![]()
