If Messi comes he will be able to experience thousands of City fans fucking off at the 85 min mark.

Not being funny, but how do you know, mate? There is nothing at all on the OS.

Not certain that says a deal has actually been signed. It seems to suggest an agreement has been reached.

Just like every other club then Carl. Arsenal was dead on 85 mins yesterday. It happens everywhere. Not just City.

my post was entirely accurate and seems pretty damn straightforward to me. promoting someone from the academy doesnt mean him being on the bench as a spectator or getting 2 mins at the end of match...or appearing 8 times in 2 seasons. promoting means a permanent upward motion...as in, barring his own injury, he's always either starting or on the bench. or the first name left off due to squad size. not like a whack-a-hole that pops up every so often. imagine if you got promoted to a higher position at work and the following day they said youre back to your old position. and then a month later you get promoted again (yay!) but then youre back down to youre old position for the next 3 months. thats not a promotion.

promotion of an academy product is what Spurs has done with Harry Kane or what Everton have done with Tom Davies and Mason Holgate, for example.

Fat Chance?
When he played an academy player from the start the week before. 50 minutes against Middlesboro' on 30th of April.....that makes what you wrote factually incorrect. Wrong.
You're going on about Garcia over a two year period playing 8 games. This is Pep's first season and the kid won't be 20 until the end of June.
You're now talking of promoting a player akin to Harry Kane playing for Spurs whereas the original comment you made was in relation to remarks myself and Mase made about giving Angus Gunn a chance rather than spending big on a keeper again.
You in your inimitable way said there was fat chance of a Manchester City manager promoting an academy kid.
I pointed out that he had played Garcia that very week which in my book shows that there is far more than a 'FAT CHANCE' of this happening.

As for the stats you're talking about being wrong?
Pep has played him, against Middlesboro' as pointed out above.
Bournemouth on 17/9/16 and West Brom 29/10/16 and he also got 4 minutes last season against Middlesboro' 11/5/16.
Not enough in my book, which we agree on, but those are the stats.

we basically agree but are debating the definition of "promotion"/"promoting" which is useless.

im standing firm with my belief that the chances of a City manager (currently Pep) full integrating a member of the academy into the first team are slim to none. im basing that opinion on this season AND on the prior ones in which Mancini and Pellegrini failed to do so (yes Kelechi is the outlier). plus, the pressure on a manager at City combined with the wealth and his disposal makes it incredibly hard for him to bring an academy player in. i just dont see it happening.

Mancini promoted Dedryck Boyata.

Now you see, that I like and don't find anything wrong with.
Yes basically we agree on wanting to see more academy players getting a chance. They will have to be special to secure a first team place like Kane, but
there should be more in the squad/on the bench/ and used when at all possible.

What I didn't like and don't agree with is the tone of your original comment. That is why I called it on your timing. I do think there is a good chance youth will be given a chance. It remains to be seen next season, but I choose to remain positive.

The way Kane has been treated by Spurs, as with many others, is definitely not a model for developing academy players that should be followed.

The Guardian's Football Weekly podcast was talking him up quite a bit yesterday and discussing whether we would sign him.

I forget who but one journalist argued he is the best young keeper in the world and Barry Glendenning, a Sunderland fan, says he can't see any real flaws in his game.

When it was raised about joining us it was suggested that we wouldn't use his long passing skills with the style we play. Not so sure I agree with that, as Pep asks the keeper to play long diagonal balls as well as far as I can tell.

Wonder why we would let him go to Everton when he is young, has what Pep seems to be looking for in terms of ball with his feet, cannot cost more than 15m or if we are held to a ransom, 20m, has proven himself in the PL and will help our HG situation as he is English versus spending what we are hearing of say 40-50m on a foreign keeper who hasn't even performed in the PL (see Bravo), unless we are considering buying back Rulli, who also has still not played in the PL.

Okay, can he handle the pressure of being at a big club? Is that it? It seems like a no brainer to me given our needs and the market, so what's going on?

Or I wonder if it is maybe that his agent and Sunderland want to put it out that he's off to Everton to get more money out of us.

The idea that we have to sign him as our #2, other than lack of experience at a top club/CL, etc. seems odd to me as he's already better than what we have right now. Are we signing two keepers this summer then?

Real Madrid have agreed a €45 million deal to sign 16-year-old forward Vinicius Junior from Flamengo, according to widespread reports in both Spain and Brazil.

Globoesporte reported on Monday that Vinicius has undergone a medical at Madrid, with the club having upped their offer to well over the €30 million release clause which Barcelona were willing to pay.

The youngster was both top scorer and player of the tournament as Brazil won the 2017 South American Under-17 Championship in March, but has yet to make his senior club debut.

His move to Madrid will reportedly not be formalised until July 2018, when he turns 18 years old, to comply with FIFA youth transfer regulations.

Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane, however, refused to comment on the speculation when asked at a news conference on Tuesday ahead of his side's Champions League semifinal second leg with Atletico Madrid.

Bonucci and Kompany? Sounds enticing. Plus, no way Vinny stays fit so Stones will play a bunch. And if all are fit maybe Pep can go with 3 CBs.

I hope we dont go for Bernardo Silva. Yes hes fantastic but id rather have our Silva and Kevin pulling the strings with Sane and Jesus on the wings. I dont think creative midfield is where we should splash out vast sums of money this summer. Maybe next summer when our Silva nears his end.
