So, Levy the bloodsucker and Walker the mercenary apart, do you think Walker will do the job for our team and Guardiola's style of play?

Will he improve us on Sagna and Zabba? Yes
Have we overpaid? Probably, but time will tell.
Can we afford it? Yes
Is he homegrown? Yes
Has he got PL experience? Yes, nearly 200 games worth
Seems to be ticking the boxes for me

OK by me as long as he stops pushing Raheem.

I won't post Housman on Mercenaries again but such harsh descriptions are misplaced. Rancour will turn to rapture soon enough if we win a few pots.

I'm not a fan. Gets caught out defensively too often for what he contributes in attacking play. I would have went for Cedric Soares from Southampton who I think we could have got for comfortably half what we'll end up paying Spurs. And he's younger.

He only plays for England cos we are crap and short of good players anyway.
I don't think he's the right type for us , but if we buy him i'll get behind him until , well until it becomes another situation like our footballing goalie from Chile.

Shouldn't it be 'unless' rather than 'until', or have you written him off already?

I'm trying desperately not to "write him on" .
I can't understand why the Spafia think this is a good purchase. I really am struggling with this one.

Agreed.
Defensively suspect and somewhat underwhelming.
Is he the best we can do ??

So in terms of HG: Walker replaces Clichy and that should be sufficient.

He's been in the team of the season the last two years so he's the best right back in the league.
Doubt he'll get picked once he plays for us mind!

Seems like a thick cunt, but wouldn't mind him on our side. A step up from last season for sure

Decidedly UNDERwhelmed ; he's a decent player , but nothing more than that , and WAY overpriced at 50 mill , & 27 y.o. There must have been better options out there. We've been done.

The price is crazy, agreed. But we have a lot of foreigners in the squad. He's a bit better than Bertrand as a full back so gets priority in terms of nationality. Who were we expecting to get? Have we missed spotting the homegrown Cafu clone somewhere? The annoyance is missing Alves as he allowed Maffeo to go and be tested with no risk and the saved cash be spent on a centre back. Now we need a number 2 right back or its Fernandinho.

These complaints about price are understandable but the market has changed with the UK TV money fuelling rises across the board. Just look around at what's been paid for the likes of Pickford, Sigurdsson, Lukaku, Keane etc. I'd have much preferred Bellerin but Walker is an upgrade, he's home grown, fits the system and he's our player now so let's dwell on the positives.
