Mancio maybe giving Ned some match-fitness as he ponders his options for the coming games? Hppe he had some kind words for Boyata, I thought he did well considering he was thrown in at the deep end. Seemed like a risk but I don't know anyone who thought he had a poor game.
Thoughts?

Might be different at the swamp from the start.

Posted something along these lines in another thread just after the game. I thought Dedryk got better and better and by the time he got subbed I thought he looked really really comfortable. A minute after this sub, Owen came on for Anderson and after that we were quite crap, Rooney found acres of space. I'm not saying it was all Ned's fault, obviously Owen coming on meant Rooney taking a step back as a Second striker which made him harder to follow but I think Dedryk would have done really well if he had stayed on.
I'm also wondering how much Mancini has actually seen Ned play? He hasn't been fit since Mancio arrived, has he? A real baptism of fire if he asked him to step in as CB for the last 20 mins in a derby to "see what he could do".
But hey, it worked dinnit?

I agree on all counts. They did seem to have a bit more time and space after the sub, but then they were always gonna pile it on trying to get something out of it.
Maybe I should delay my application for the manager's job and let Mancini have a bit longer!

OK, I'm re-posting my previous post... The got loads of more space because:
I have to say that I was surprised that Bacon Face didn't put Owen on sooner. For me that was what really changed things in the second half. Rooney dropped a few yards back and ended up between the defenders and the midfield. The defenders were scared to death going at him, cause they knew that he would either do his man or find a sneaky pass to Owen running deep. It was a fucking wonder that they didn't score.

Not actually arguing with that, mate. Your post wasn't up when I started typing and it took me a while. Perhaps what we actually needed was a third CB or NdJ to drop deeper to keep track of the Ogre. Again, not saying it was Neds fault and we won, happy days
uwe's_skyblue_duvet wrote:Hmm, fair comments, but I still thikn it a little odd to trust him at first, and think 'hang on, I don't trust you that much' and swap him.
Still it proved to be a relatively good decision I suppose, as we won.
Roll on Wednesday. I don't think I've ever been as nervous about a game. I wish I had Garry Cooke's gall/confidence/wages.
mr_nool wrote:It has to be said, though, that Rooney was fucking marvelous in the second half. When he's in that form he's a handful for ANY defence. He was really world class (i don't like to admit it, but it's true).

Yes he was & for those who were watching on tv, he was even more impressive when you watch his movement in context of the bigger picture. Rare he maintains that level for several games on the run though. In fact he usually has a big a dip in form during each season. Saving it for England maybe.
Agree that Mancini knew there was a storm coming, hence Ned.
