Our Debutants

Postby King Kev » Sun Jan 24, 2010 6:53 pm

Taylor, Ibrahim and Cunningham all played their first game for us today.

How do you think they did?

Ibrahim did ok, but was quite anonymous for large parts
Cunningham did very well, especially after being booked after 90 seconds
Taylor did very well also and saved us on more than one occasion.

I wasnt sure if boyata was in the midfield of the back four at times but he did well for a teenager

I thought Ibrahim looked good, and has a future. Taylor is adequate backup for the time being, not as good as Hart obviously but I doubt he will be happy to sit on our bench.

Cunningham I was less sure about, looked pretty slow, and clumsy at times. Not awful, but reminded me of that 45mins Sam Williamson once had, doubt we will see him again.

Taylor I'm not convinced about at all, his kicking is dire and certainly doesn't fill me with confidence, though credit for the one spectacular save over the bar

Cunningham was ok but probably looks the least likely of our recent debutants, inc. Boyata, to be around long enough to stake a regular place in the squad. Gave the ball away a bit too much

Ibrahim I thought had a decent game, and quite appropriately now has a Vieira-like appearance and style to his game. Could definitely be one for the future

Boyata is doing really well. Great composure and unlucky with the og. Kompany is looking after him. Not sure what job Ibrahim could do for us as we're over subscribed there. Loan him out? Doubt we'll see him start again. Maybe odd sub appearance if injuries stack up. Cunningham looked uncomfortable and shouldn't have been brought on. Think he'll disappear never to be seen again once Bridge is back.

When I first saw Cunningham I thought "rabbit in headlights, oh sh*t"
Then he got booked, and I thought "oh sh*t"

And then nothing happened down their right flank. Whatever threat there was he sniffed it out. Very quick, good positioning, and stuck to his job. Better in the air than I expected because their diagonal cross had been a threat against Sylvinho in first half.... well done to the lad....
I must remember to get a new signature.....

You're right to pull me up and I'll correct what I wrote. His kicking with his LEFT foot is dire and looks awkward at best

I am always confused as to how we all read/see performaces differently.

I thought Taylor was pretty poor. Completely inadequate deputy for Shay IMO. Just frightening to think how at risk we'd be with him vs good prem opposition.

Cunningham I didn't really have much view as to whether he was good or bad. Fairly anonymous.

Boyata was very strong throughout and I was hugely impressed by Ibrahim who I thought was brilliant on and off the ball. He is the one out of the four who looks like he got the right stuff

I signed Ibrahim on FM2009 with Hucknall and he was in the team from the Blue Square North to the Premiership. I must've been one of the only people who knew who he was.

Taylor is POOR. His kicking second half was good and he made one good save, he should have saved their second goal though.

Ibrahim was our best player the first 20/30 mins then seemed to dissappear a bit.

Boyata played very well in parts.

I knew who he was i used to work with his best mate who absolutely raved over him and that was 3 years ago.

Greg Cunningham came to City as a left winger;he has now been converted to a left back. This time last year I would have given him no chance of ever appearing in the first team.He made great progress in the second half of last season so although he wasnt brilliant today I wouldnt give up on him.

Boyata was the best of the three young players today ; thought that was his best game by a mile for us today.Abdi was very impressive first half but maybe understandably faded in the second half when his passing became sloppy.Overall still a promising debut by him.

Ibrahim was great, did everything without a fuss, could develop into a really handy player.

Taylor, 2nd keeper and showed why, not a patch on Shay (or Joe for that matter)

Cunningham, a booking and nothing to shout home about after. Can't be written off or praised.

Boyata, this guy will be a top top centre back in a few years. A real diamond in the rough. A few years or less even and he will be a city starter week in week out. Yet more evidence the city youth system is the finest in the land.

Taylor looked dependable enoiugh which is enough to me to suggest that should Shay not be able to ply then I would be happy to put him in.

Ibrahim was excellent when you take into account his experience.

Cunningham looked a little nervous but has that turn of pace which a full back needs. Defensivly fine.

Ibrahim looked like he has the potential for the Prem.
Cunningham less so.
Taylor was alright, doesn't fill me with confidence but didn't do too badly

Nervous if Taylor was playing against top opposition but thought Ibrahim looked good especially first half and Cunningham will of gained alot from the experience but think both are abit of getting near squad (for now anyways)

Boyata looked brilliant to me and is obviously benefitting playing next to Kompany but i jinxed him by texting my mate saying how much more confident he looks and is having a great game just as he deflected there goal lol
