When I go, I've never had a problem with the traffic after staying until after the final whistle. My parents rarely do, either, from a 350 mile plus round trip for each home game.
Well done, you and your family are obviously much smarter than most of the rest of us car users. Do you go often?

My parents are ST holders, so they do. You drive one of those Chelsea Tractors, don't you? Might be harder to find a sensible parking spot for it.

JC, as I said, I don't know where you have to get to, but over two hours difference seems somewhat over the top.
I go to near enough every home game, and never leave early. Taking spuds last week as an example, I left probably five minutes after the game finished, I was parked near Ashburys station, so that took around fifteen minutes to walk to.
Then up Gorton Road, probably around five or six minutes to get onto Ashton Old Road at the lights, then something like fifteen minutes to get through the traffic onto the Mancunian Way and onto the Princess Road, heading toward the M56.
This is typical.
I do agree with Mase about the official car park though, I got a years free season ticket for it when they moved me once, and yes, it's as described,
And that was when we were still shit.

Wernt too many early leavers today , pretty much low key game, easy win etc etc loads out for a few drinks before xmas making a day of it so why a load of shit from the armchair crew ??? . I left approx. 30 seconds after the final whistle , a swift 20 minute walk into the Northern Quarter for a couple more pints with fellow blues , loads go into the Northern Quarter after the game . Then another swift 10 minute walk to Manchester Victoria Station to catch a train home to my adopted Wigan . Not as it is anyone,s business like ! but I made the effort like around 52,000 other blues to get to the game and get home again .
Not really here

People must be so important. Drove tonight, rarely. Stayed til end, went in the pubs for a bit, zero traffic. You will get traffic if you leave early or go within an hour so what's the point.

I'm in the Orange car park behind the East Stand and live in Stockport. Since we moved to the Etihad my journey is always via the single exit onto Turing Way then left onto Oldham road, then to the M60 to Stockport. Five minutes makes a difference of double the journey time home, and in the case of the Spurs game more than trebled it. Once the final whistle blows and the supporters leave the stadium they close Turing way and the carparks become gridlocked. I agree it would be a lot quicker to get home if I parked outside the ground like yourself but the old pins aren't up to the walk these days I'm afraid.

As I’ve said mate, most of the time I’d get the train in so would stay until the end, but when I did drive nine times out of ten I’d leave five mins from the end because other wise it’d take me a good hour and half - two hours to get home. I’ve got other things to be doing with my weekend. City isn’t my life.
I once made the mistake of using the official car park and it took me an hour and fifteen just to get off the car park let alone the drive home.

The club need to sort out stuff like that. Have one entrance and one exit to all car parks is a joke.

We are in the same boat

We park on the official club car park as my dad is disabled so gets it as part of his season ticket. He goes out early to beat the masses so we do too of course.

If you don't head out 3 - 4 minutes early you get stuck for and additional hour at least due to roads closing while stadium empties.

When we get the train we stay until the end.

I agree that the club needs to sort something about it to help if they want everyone to stay until the end. But then again why the fuck does anyone care. People pay their money to do what the fuck they want.

Some comments on here bordering on the ridiculous or trolling to get a reaction

So, from all the comments on here it seems to be the official car parks that are the issue. I can well believe it as I used one for a season, and although that was when we were shite, it was still a nightmare getting away.
Seems that a bit of narrative with the club is in order.

Calm down there Nora and put a new pair of knickers on.
This is an issue that needs sorting. At least you've given a valid reason for this issue. So instead of getting scorpy when people point out the embarrassment of having thousands of fans walking out on a team of this calibre, maybe give what you think is a solution.
If every fan has to go through "utter chaos" when leaving after the final whistle, then the club need to address it.
It certainly needs highlighting as its embarrassing, even if it doesn't taste nice having the conversation.
Pour yourself a cup of tea now Nora and have a think about it.

It's very good of you to dispense free advice my gratuitously offensive fellow blue. It truly saddens me that you have to endure the sight of empty seats from your armchair week in and week out. It has indeed proved an intractable problem over many years and at many other stadia too.

Nevertheless, until we see more commitment from the club to address the post-game transport issues causing an early exodus I'm afraid I must continue to contribute to your suffering.

In the meantime console yourself with the thought that not 'every' fan is afflicted by the present unsatisfactory egress arrangements, it's mainly only those who park in the official car parks. I do appreciate though it must seem churlish of those who solve the problem by leaving early, that we are not prepared to spend unnecessary hours in a traffic jam for the benefit of tv watchers etc such as your good self.

Oh pipe down you boring old cunt JC.

I may have been watching today from home, but I go to plenty of matches and spend quite a lot of my hard earned cash to do so, because I don't have the benefit of living down the road, or even in the same country.

The fact that you and other whingey fuck have to attack the observation rather than the embarrassing issue that it is is the worst part.

Put your energy towards suggestions on how to fix the problem instead of getting all high and mighty because you are able to go regularly.

Whingey bitch.

"Integrity free zones"

Blowing hot air in the wrong direction and wearing your geographical advantage like a badge really does show your integrity.

Congratulations.

there's a lot of folk who value the convenience enough to pay and some couldn't attend without it - if that makes them stupid then so be it.
