Can't believe that double bear hug wasn't reviewed. The biggest problem with VAR is when to employ VAR.

we only need to employ VAR if the referee thinks he needs it and that is all.

That's not how it works now, though. Just look at the penalty Sweden got against South Korea. The ref thought nothing of it but was told/ ordered to review it.

Personally I think it should be used on an appeal basis. There appeals per team per match. If it's inconclusive after review vthe ref's initial call stands.

I think the VAR people look at everything and decide whether to advise the ref or not to change his decision. Never been a fan of VAR until both legs of the Champs league this season with the
dippers, but VAR doesn't help at all if the VAR people are in cahoots.
