Rashford runs a lot, but he just makes the wrong runs the whole time, covering air or getting in the way for his team mates. He could do with playing for a proper manager.

The two double barreled names show a lot of promise, but they alsoook very green and lack end product.

Rose on the left instead of young is a revelation.

Phil Jones shouldn't even be part of this squad. There are better English centre backs left at home.

The City boys have been doing well. Would like to see Delph next to Henderson when/if you come up against a stronger opponent in the Knockout stage.

Poor lambs. They turn out in their drives to support their man, regardless of how they play. RatBoy also tried to downgrade Rashford's miss with Courtois exclaimed as a giant in net, so it was understandable, but then confessed he'd not shown anything to displace Sterling in the first team. Lee Dixon also professed that if Rashford had scored a hatrick then he would have been in with a shout. Interesting that nobody took him up on it, possibly mentioning that Rashford just needed to score the one to get in ahead of Raheem, but they're not daft are they. The response would have been, simply, 'One goal, even one on target would be good'.

I think we, England, got exactly the result we wanted. Yes, we play to win, but that doesn't mean we want to.

Southgate looked quite chipper at the final whistle whilst Martinez looked a wee bit shocked.

England were shit tonight and the players who had a real chance to stake a claim for a place failed to do it. I thought Rash was awful despite Hoddle trying to make out he was good with some runs. The problem is his runs were for long balls so he could use his pace and that's not the way we should be playing. They weren't creating a real threat as it's quite easy to defend against.

The one big chance he had was a bad miss. Not a great surprise as he isn't a good finisher. Scores some very good goals but he just isnt a good finisher. Rose should play instead of Dung but I doubt that will happen.

I reckon deep down Southgate is a happy man tonight. Actually got the result he wanted and the performance of basically everyone confirmed what his best 11 is.

Michael bridges on Telly here “rashford was poor tonight I’m trying to stake a claim for his starting place over sterling”

So you wouldn’t pick him next game then?

“Oh no I still would”

I'm a bit disappointed that only one team from outside of the Americas and Europe made it to the second phase of the tournament. The good thing I guess is that there a few potential winners in there who haven't won it before, like Belgium, Portugal and possibly even Denmark. I love it when a new nation goes to the semis or even the final. Here's hoping!

There's no way we're going to make it all the way, but I do think we are better then Denmark.
I quite fancy England in the quarter finals, should we make it that far. We have a great record against you guys in competitive games.
We will out-English you with our old-school 4-4-2 with two big lads upfront to hoof long balls to.

Vardy carried the new Pele ? Loftus Cheek would have been better in behind Vardy.

Rashford is a rag squeezed into a squad because he is a rag and a bit part player rag at that. Even the deluded 1 does not know what to make of him, nowhere near the level of Raheem.

Rashford has been totally ruined by Maureen , the lad now lacks confidence and all his attacking instinct has been sapped out of him . Huge shame he was a massive talent 2 years or so ago .
