But I suppose I always cheer for Scandinavian teams so it's all good.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

They are talking about some rule change on telly here. Must've missed something.

They did change the rules. Double jeopardy (pen and sending off) to be avoided where the defender makes a genuine attempt to get the ball. If the defender had just grabbed his shirt he would have been sent off too. But that was an open goal 8 yards out. It's a nonsense. Also, why don't they use VAR when the keeper moves 2 yards off his line before the penalty has been struck.

I seem to remember there being talk about giving refs greater discretion in this regard, but only in the event that a goal had been scored, or possibly a goal could be awarded in lieu of a red in certain circumstances. Didn't know anything had entered the rulebook, though.

No, he caught the underside of the attackers foot first and then the ball and then caught him again.

Some of the penalties today have been TRULY shocking.

Too bad for our fellow Vikings, but probably for the best for the tournament.

Why? They weren't that bad. But fair play to Croatia.

There was no genuine attempt for anything but to bring him down. Right thing to do considering the circumstances but still worth a red.

Boring game , didn't care who won. Penalties were ok as a bit of fun but why do refs talk to keepers , I assume about staying on their line , and then do nothing about it when they are 4 or 5 feet off it when the ball is kicked.

Wouldn't matter for De Gea. If he stood in front of the ball it would still go in

I thought if he stayed still 3 of them would have hit him and gone out. Bravo much better :-)

Its a very old chestnut but really FIFA need to get up off their holes do something to stop teams playing for penalties from the off, it makes for really terrible dull games. The extra time is a waste of time very few games resolved in ET and it just extends the boredom. They should just do a golden goal after the 90 mins is up. Now that would be interesting.
