Vieira

Postby Mase » Fri Jan 29, 2010 10:36 am

Is he a piss taker or what?

Patrick Vieira will again be missing as City take on Portsmouth on Sunday.

The Blues midfielder has been troubled by a calf problem which he picked up in his last game for Inter Milan before moving to City earlier this month.

He was initially pencilled in for a debut in the home clash with Blackburn nearly three weeks ago, but has not yet been able to take part in full impact training.

City's medical staff hope he will be able to resume full training next week, and finally make his bow at Hull a week on Saturday.

Better news for the Blues is that left back Wayne Bridge has an outside chance of facing Pompey after recovering from a medial knee ligament injury which has kept him out for seven weeks.

Joleon Lescott, also out for a similar time, is expected to return to training next week following knee surgery but is still two or three weeks away from a return.

His absence is eased by the return of skipper Kolo Toure, who could not get a flight back from Angola in time for Wednesday night's derby, and only returned to training on Thurday.

Nearly a month since he's signed and he's not even properly trained yet. I had high hopes for vieira but this is worrying.

Yeah not great it is? Don't think we need him for Pompey at home though. We needed him on Wed though.

Read a report saying he is on £25k basic which is boosted to £100k+ on appearances, bonuses, top4 finish etc hope this is the case.

It's in the recent City tradition to sign crocks.

Seriously, though, I hope he's fit for Hull.

That's still more per week, than you're average poster on here makes a year for working their bollocks off for 48 weeks each year!!!

He'd better make up for it when he does get on the pitch, whenever that maybe. He owes us at least one match changing performance!

i don't really care. i didn't expect much once it was announced that he was crocked. we could have used him vs. the Scum i think. Maybe he gets fit and plays some Cup matches or a few league games i guess. who knows. i think he'll be shit on the pitch if he does play tbh. i had higher hopes i think out of pure delusion but they faded quickly after i big-upped him in my Everton preview only for him to still be crocked.

Fool me once, shame on you...Fool me...you can't get fooled again.

Pretty much backs up what Lee Dixon said about him not being naturally fit and always takes his time to get over injuries, by choice I'm not sure he would've played yet in any case, maybe against Scunthorpe, so if he gets fit in the next week he still gives us cover for the run in

Ok have to ask why the Paddy hate?

We paid nothing for him so whats the problem? We paid for Bellers who was out injured after only 8 games last season and RSC is still unfit 6 months later and thats after shelling out £17m for him and you're whining about a 33 y/o on a free.

This is not a pop at Bellars or even RSC as we knew the problems with both before we signed them and with Bellars this season it has paid off so come on whats the real beef with Paddy?

And don't give me that failed medical crap. Players have been signed after failed medicals for like ever. Asa Hartford failed a medical in '71 for Leeds yet he turned out ok if I recall :)

Asa Harfortd had an atrial septal defect ie a congenital heart condition. It was there but it didn't impede on his performance. I think when players are signed for clubs this is the criteria that should apply
Are they fit to play
NOT
Do they have any illnesses cf Mabbut and diabetes

Well it's not hate is it? It's just people questioning whether it's a good signing or not. Imo we'll only know that at the end of the season, same as with RSC.

Asa Hartford failed a medical at Leeds and the transfer did not go through so Leeds did believe it would impede his performance. We signed him on the belief his condition would not impede his career. Its a judgement call based on the evidence you have at the time and we were correct.

My point is that you are whinging about signing a player because he failed a medical as if it had never happened before despite the fact we have RSC still out or indeed Bellers who's effectiveness is restricted by his medical condition. Both Bellers and RSC's performances are impeded by their medical conditions and we signed both in full knowledge of their medical condition and medical history for a combined cost of around £25m plus wages via long contracts.

Signing Paddy for 6 months on a free and on a basic with top ups is not even in the same ball park as either of these two players yet there are constant digs at Paddy in his 3 weeks here. I have no idea whether Paddy will be a good, bad, or indifferent player with us. I take the view having him around is not really a big issue so I guess I am surprised by the level of Paddy hate on here as if his presence and signing is an afront and not being fit is an outrage that must be addressed.

So I ask again what is the problem you guys have with Paddy? Or do you always get bent out of shape over short term free transfers that relatively speaking cost us f**k all?
