For me, it's more that it's Pep's job to convince players they have a future with the club. It's up to him to pursued kids that they're part of City. That doesn't just mean giving them minutes or promising them games.

But from what I've seen of Pep he has a "if he wants to stay he can" kind of attitude, where he should be doing better than that.

They have to convince him when they get their chance, Sancho had convinced him that he was worth his place in the squad, he was due to go on preseason with the squad after shaking hands on a new deal. The next step was to convince Pep on the pitch when the opportunities came, like they did for Foden and Diaz last season but instead he reneged on the deal and fucked off.

I dont see the point dwelling on it, if any, it should help us reassess our youth strategy and ensure this doesn't happen again in future.

On the plus side, we have first option to buy him back, so if he goes on to be world class, as long as we can match the highest bid, we can bring him back. I'd replace him with Mahrez in a year or two with a heartbeat.

I'm not saying Sancho should have been played any more than Foden was last year. The issue is losing him in order to sign a £60m bottler and not strengthening where we needed to in the summer. I'm glad you are not trying to defend that, I misunderstood - sorry.
