What's to stop Manchester City buying land in UAE that's very rich in oil.
Would this then be part of our income?

I think it would be classed as 'non football related income' so they'd just stop us from spending it. Imagine Platini trying to make this nonsense stand up in court?!! The bloke's a fucking idiot & should resign.

Not surprisingly, Mike Parry is supporting it on 'Talkshite'. When Parry thinks you've got a good idea you know you've dropped a bollock.

Can't see the player's reps being very happy with this thing. Even if it comes to a vote there will be about a thousand
lawsuits chanting collusion.

UEFA steadfastly refuse to accept responsibility for the lack of competition across Europe. The top clubs have siphened off prize money for years. I liked Platini initially because he seemed to want to bring new clubs into the Champions League from Eastern Europe and elsewhere, which is in the spirit of the competition. But the more it moves on, the more he seems out of his depth unable to bring in his own philosophy and bullied by the G14 under the threat of a breakaway league. Great player, shit politician.

He's theory is complete bollox though. So clubs that have massive stadiums and a large fan base will obviuosly get alot more on the gates and a higher turnover. That really will be the death of 'smaller' clubs that ent blessed with millions of glory hunters.

Could someone just put a bullet into that annoyin French pricks head. He is so bitter that English clubs do so well in Europe and that tht French league is a complete joke.

Yep. If it has to be from direct football related income our owners would just buy 1.000.000 shirts and then give them to poverty stricken parts of the world, giving them a brand new City shirt and spreading our fan base further across the globe at the same time, while bringing in income through the shirt sales... A win win solution.. lol

The balance of power firmly lies with the ex G14 cartel. They have the financial clout and own the product. Platini and UeFA may be the ruling body but they fall over if the cartel simply say they are withdrawing and going it alone. As happened when the Premier League was set up, the FA and FL laid down and capitulated. The real threat comes from the cartel.

No matter what UeFA say, if the cartel want to go it alone, they will do so. It looks as though it will be by invitation only and the way things seem to stacking up, City may not be invited to the party. If that happens, we will be pretty powerless, despite our money and I don't expect any help from the media.

I don't think any of the major European clubs are too bothered whether we are in or not because we pose little or no financial threat to them. I believe this has been probably instigated by our own domestic top four, who stand to lose the most if we are successful. The question arises...Are the rags at the bottom of this? Are they the club with the most to lose, including their very existance?

Is it just me or is Michael talking out of his ass?

Last time I checked a club's value was based on its Earnings + Assets - Debts: Financial Value

WHAT THE FUCK DOES THIS HAVE TO DO WITH SELLING HATS AND T-SHIRTS!!!!
If we base a clubs financial stability on that, along with UEFA revenue, then you literally
destroying any chance of fair competition.

If you are going to enforce this rule then I want to see EVERY teams audited: and that goes
for Chelsea and Arsenal first!!!

Aniline isn't it?

Still love to know how the rags will clear £650M of debt in just over two years. If only they'd fail to qualify for the chumps and it's the same scenario for the scousers

They won't need to. He's said it's a good thing if you're millions in debt borrowed from the banks etc, just bad if someone GIVES you the money.

An answer to this problem would be for both UEFA and FIFA to refuse to sanction any breakaway competition and ban any players from any international football. Of course the breakaway teams could set their own up, but if there is a collective will from FA's around the world, and their clubs then the ex G14 could isolate themselves and their competitions. This is a big challenge to football, and football needs to stand up to it. I don't for one minute think that Platini has come up with these ideas on his own, their are too many get-outs for the current big clubs.

Reading Platini's alleged comment again (admittedly lifted from football fancast.com) he says:

"We are giving clubs three years to abide by the simple sentence that you cannot spend more than you own or generate,"

Surely that bit means this has fuck all to do with City? Is it just a media spin when really it's an attack on the big debtors?

Of all the comments - this is the one on the money!!!

All this talk of law suits is probably fanciful - who would we be suing? on what grounds?

If a football association want to amend their rules of competition - what is wrong with that the courts would say

There is no issue of which they would be interested - e.g. constraint of trade - which led to the Bosman ruling - it might be massively unfair - but that is not going to stop the cartel - I think the chances are very good that Platini will either get his way and stop us - which he will be very keen to do because otherwise the cartel walks and sets up its own competition and his reason for existing is gone

There will have been discussions amongst the 'established order' of how to stop CITY and I think that it is for these reasons that Cook has been seeking to gain friends in powerful places such as his meetings with Barca

For me this is the scum behind this - Platini has talked to Abromovich because they are not part of the G14 but would now be invited and certainly Liverpool would support it

It is their (Uefa) competition they can make what rules they like and they will think up every which way of protecting the interests of their chosen members - if the qualification positions are at risk they will think of others

We need a multi-tiered approach and thankfully our owners probably have the nous to do this

1/ We must qualify for the CL and do it for 2 - 3 years before these rules can come in
2/ We must act to increase our revenue in a number of ways that ensure that our wage bill is met by our revenue
3/ We must go all out to make friends in the important places - such as Barca, RM and other top clubs and dirty as it will feel:
4/We must work closely with UeFa and find ways to influence their plans - if we can sweeten things in a number of ways and get some top clubs on our side then we might be able to isolate the Scum, Chelski and Liverpool - otherwise I am very worried!!

If you start telling people how they run their businesses & start imposing sanctions on them when they haven't broken any laws, it's a matter which is outside the normal remit of sport & will almost certainly end up in court. Whatsmore there may be quite a few clubs who'd be on our side. One or two in Russia for a start.

Also if you look around the worlds media I recon you'll find the Sheikh has influence in, shares in or owns a fair bit of it, including the company that transmits football to the middle East & if I'm not mistaken, the company that owns AC Milan as well as a percentage of Ferrari. Will they really want to piss this bloke off?
