I don't think anyone is questioning his importance in the past. He may well have an important role in the future, but should we be giving him a free pass into the side automatically or exploring other avenues?
I believe the main thrust of the Silva-out protagonists is that he isn't doing enough now, this moment, to stay in the side. It's either a fatigue issue or it's better to burn out than fade away.
On the other hand, if Mahrez is in the side, I'd rather see us re-sign Navas than get rid of Silva.
