Training Friday 5/2

Training Friday 5/2

Postby Douglas Higginbottom » Fri Feb 05, 2010 3:34 pm

Due to believing a City employee I turned up late today, ( detention for me later) The scheduled time of 2 became 1pm so I missed 35 minutes or so but not doubt it will only have been just the usual start off routines. It did mean though that when security were sent around to get people out of trees and off fences I wasn't one of them!

It's all very strange that "sometimes" they seem to be very concerned about anyone watching behind the fence but not at other times. The photographers are deemed to be the issue but they can still take all the pictures they want and of course just now that's Bridge above all others.Shortly after I arrived half the squad did some brief exercises in full view of all watchers and within just a few yards which gave me a chance for a very brief word with one of the fitness guys.

The good news is that Micah should be back in full training and might be available next weekend. Definitely not a cert but not far away and the same for RSC who was again working away today 1 to 1. I asked about Michael Johnson and he said the operation went really well and he is starting the long road back but in very good spirits.

As seems to be the norm now Mancini took half the squad away for tactical work and the rest played a 5 a side game.Mancini was mainly focussing on corners. At one end it was attacking with time spent on postioning and movement and then moving to the other end to work on defending. Then the 2 groups switched around.

In the 5 a side I would say they weren't overly competitive which didnt seem to please Shay that much. One little sequence was fun where NDJ had a sitter with the keeper out of position but hit the bar , Ade came onto the rebound with a keeper to beat but it was blocked but NDJ with a crazy scissor kick finally knocked it in. All good fun which soon ended as they went in to prepare for the coach to Hull at 3pm.

It still gave some time for Bellers to have some edge of the box shooting practice and he was pretty hot. With a coach throwing him a ball from 2 yards or so he took one touch and volleyed in.Some brilliant finishes with the keeper having litttle chance. When one did come over the fence Bellers asked for it to be thrown back. He said he was worried it might be on the way to Liverpool otherwise:)

Whilst Bellers was doing this a special competition was going on at the far end where Stu Taylor was taking on Nedum . Nedum was in nets! Ned was winning the battle for a while whilst Stu found his aim but despite the odd decent save Stu won through in the end.

Yes and no! He isn't the sort of guy who stands out in the football I have seen them play and he isn't the larger than life confident kind of guy who you can always hear above the rest. He just got on with his work with some nice touches and the odd goal. I did notice he has worn different boots every day so far. Started with blue , yellow yesterday and today's were white.

One of the photographers there described PV as a racehorse.

Surely he meant 'thoroughbred', a racehorse would cause chaos on the pitch

I am sure he meant it as a compliment and was referring to how lean he looked.

Thats what i thought really that only a few who didnt play on sunday would train. But thats fine no worries Doug. Have a good time!

I might try and get down there on sunday anyway so i can take over your job for the day and get a report in. :)

Often at Carrington on a Sunday there will be the real younger ages playing. If they are there the first team might not be out.

I did hear some mention of the academy team playing on Sunday but assume that would be at Platt Lane ( I thought they would still be away though !!)

The media drives me mad. I mean they need to leave bridge alone and focus on terry in a situation like this. What are they trying to ask bridge, how do you feel knowing your misses was a cheating whore? What is he even suppose to say?

I know what you mean but they wouldn't have a chance of getting near him at Carrington but just want a picture. One guy told me all he wanted was a picture of Bridge smiling. Don't know how they would use a picture like that though.
