Lawro & Champagne Charlie Predictions v Toffees (A)

Postby Wonderwall » Fri Sep 27, 2019 10:51 am

This week Lawro is up against Gooner Geraint Thomas. But as he is in a cycle race when they wrote the article they havent provided any predictions yet, useless!!!

Anyway

It is fair to say that the natives will be restless after seeing Everton beaten at Goodison Park by Sheffield United last week, and Manchester City will obviously offer an even tougher test.

That could help them, because they will raise their game against City - but if they end up losing heavily, then Toffees boss Marco Silva is going to get some grief.

Silva's problem is that his side are neat and tidy and play some decent stuff on their day, but they do not seem able to put teams away.

I look at Everton and wonder exactly what they are trying to do, and I think most of their supporters feel the same way.

I can only see a City win here; they are just too good.

Yes, Dominic Calvert-Lewin might cause them a few problems in the air and, defensively, they are going to be under more pressure than they were against Watford last week - but they should still be able to cope.

Lawro's prediction: 0-2

Although Marco Silva got a good result in the week against Sheffield Wednesday, he is under serious pressure. Their home form was good and then they bombed against Sheffield United. I don't know what their agenda is. They signed Moise Kean, who looks lively and decent, but has been given very little service, and then you have Richarlison, who sometimes doesn't look interested, and the talented Gylfi Sigurdsson behind. Idrissa Gueye going to PSG was a big blow. They brought on Theo Walcott and Cenk Tosun against the Blades and took Bernard off, who was their best player.

What is Silva's goal? If they concede first, what are they going to do? And what happened to Tom Davies? He is on the bench but isn't close to the first team. City will keep the ball and pick Everton off when they attack. Kevin De Bruyne, Bernardo Silva, Sergio Aguero and Gabriel Jesus are all scoring. They recovered pretty well from embarrassment at Norwich.

CHARLIE PREDICTS: 1-3

Lawro’s comments are all about the Toffees, still I suppose he likes to rub it in given his background. Stupid of the BBC to pick someone who is not available. Either score will be useful though.

To be fair to Lawro, he spends a couple of days analysing the strengths of the teams, wading through opta stats and consulting his many contacts in the game, then he says 2-0.

Reckon its more complex than that. He tosses a coin, heads its 2-0, tails its 2-0 and on a full moon its 3-0
