How can black people be racist against their own race?

I hope this was sarcasm. If this was a private conversation then fair enough, but not when you post it on publicly accessible social media with hundreds of thousands of followers.
As some have already said, no one is disputing that Bernardo is not racist by nature or had any intent to offend. What matters is that it is perfectly reasonable for a black person to read that post and feel offended by it.
What does NOT matter are the following:
1. Other “more racist” behaviour, especially if they are from “back in our day”. Just because some other racism went unpunished doesn’t make his actions ok or him suddenly innocent.
2. Our personal definitions of what other groups of people are allowed to be offended or not offended by. Thinking one is in the position to judge this is (unintentionally) bigoted.
3. What proportion of people gunning for Bernardo’s head actually feel passionate about fighting racism or just want to see our club suffer. Again irrelevant and doesn’t change the fact that he made a mistake.
If Bernardo had made a simple apology stating that he should have been more responsible and sensitive about the reactions of his audience it wouldn’t be an admission of being a racist at all, rather it would have been a very positive reflection on his personality.
Instead his unrepentant tweet in reply makes it now very difficult for him to avoid punishment, lest he become a future precedent deeming similar behaviour in the future acceptable. (what many are already doing in point 1 above)
That said while I agree some form of punishment is fair and understandable, this 6 match ban being thrown around the media is absolutely ridiculous and over the top.
It’s also just sad to see so many people still think you have to be a racist to engage in racism, that it’s only racism if you actually hate the person or people, or that the fight against racism is mostly about those thugs shouting the N word on the street.

You can be black and still think blacks are worse than whites can't you?

Does that make you racist? I think black people are in general more athletic than white people. I've generalised so does that make me racist? Am I racist against black people for generalising or against white people for saying they're less athletic?
See how fuckin stupid it is?

So as things get worse until eventually you will hardly be able to speak, you will stand by and do nothing. Fucking good job guys like you were not in the trenches, or when the trade unions were formed to try and stop slavery in the mills and factories.

If Kev said it was, then maybe there’s an argument. Kev would think it was funny, so did Mendy.

Seriously, what the fuck are you talking about? Those parallels just doesn't make any sense at all.

Sorry, what I was trying to articulate but failed, was that things are getting that bad freedom of expression and speech are seriously under threat, and those values have taken years of fighting both the established elite and fascism, and should not be passively given up. Hope this helps
