For those who feel the need, MotD is on tonight to keep up morale. Not sure what is on it but watched Footie Focus this afternoon and quite enjoyed it.

Thanks again to all of you, and just thought I’d mention our NHS who have been unbelievable words cannot express how much we owe to their skill, dedication and care, really impressed.
The care nurse assigned to my wife told us they are reorganising wards at Altnagalvin hospital in anticipation of the Coronavirus patient’s, those thinking there will be football this year are going to be disappointed from what we have been told.

A bit of cheery news for us all HD

On the subject of this season, it has to be simply scrapped. If it has to be finished it must be all leagues as there are so many issues to settle. But if clubs have gone bust, or had to release players because of a cash shortage, you can't have a fair conclusion. Macca, Southend, and others are in real trouble and even top flight clubs might lose players that go out of contract. Furthermore, this season will always have an * on it. And I say this as somebody who believes we may well have won another trophy, and had the best chance we've ever had in the Champs League.
Its difficult to see how any club can resume this season with players and other staff having been ill, and possibly dying. The sides are unlikely to be the same as before this suspension took place.

What’s more worrying is that a couple of weeks without football and clubs are on the verge of going bust.

I wonder if clubs will now look to the government to pay the players wages, up to £2500? After all, that is the current legislation.

That's what the govt has announced isn't it so why not? Would certainly help the lower league clubs who face going under

I hope the government tells them to fuck off. Far to many clubs overpay their staff in relation to their income. Not a huge amount of sympathy from me I’m afraid.

PL and championship maybe. Lower league stuff is generally hand to mouth.

It can’t continue to work like that. They need to get rid of FFP because none of these clubs will be worth saving if they do go under unfortunately

Smaller clubs will be squeezed from all angles, even when play resumes, corporate entertainment budgets will be squeezed, people will have less money for season tickets/ price increases etc., it won’t be just back to business as usual.

^This. It is going to take quite a bit of time for football to get back on its feet. Everyone will be feeling the pinch -the lower league clubs in particular
