seems bizzare.. no SWP no Ireland.. 3 defensive mids !! wtf

i have suggested elsewhere that Mancini seems to have gone into his shell in an attempt to gain solidity before anything else.
Trouble is thats what crap teams do and imo doesnt work too well..

could be the make or break game this

Just finished saying to the old man that tempo is crucial tonight and that I hope we play with some real width and pace in the side. Hmmm
we've got love bites and everything

If Bolton pack the MF out like the Rags,Portsmouth and Hull did against us.4-5-1.We will struggle. We need to start games commanding the MF from the start, then adjusting slightly as the game goes on if we need to.

no no no - "he plays defenders in defence, midfielders in midfield and attackers in attack" was the pearl of wisdom i remember.

i really hope this comes off tonight, but it's a team set up as if we are playing Chelsea away.

anyways, i'm off down the pub. blue army.

Can't answer the majority of the questions but it will be interesting to see if we actually do have a 4.4.2 line up with Johnson right and Barry left before getting into a 4.3.3 won't work. And even if it does end up 4.3.3 as I have said before it's how they play more then the sytem they play in.

3 defensive midfielders at home against Bolton. I can't believe it. How is Johnson going to be used? Playing in the hole behind the strikers and pulling wide whenever he can?

Oh there was some real classics said that day. He was famous for his attack minded football in Italy.

This midfield is going to do nothing but invite them to attack us. Exactly what has happened in the last few games. We're not going to dictate the tempo or threaten with width down both channels because we dont have the players on the pitch to do that.
I'm really very confused and depressed by this line up.

I just want 3 points. Not too pleased with the selection, but if we win I'll have no complaints. Then we sit back and let things fall our way tomorrow, and wake up Thursday sitting in a good spot.

That starting xi is depressing as fuck - and he blatantly thinks all the players I like are shit; can't imagine the damage he's going to do to the squad in the summer.

It's a fucking shit line up and you know it - and if we'd lined up like that 3 months ago there would've been fucking meltdown on here (you know that to).
I like bombast, i like goals, i like entertainment and fluid football - that side is all about regimented, stifling defense; he's lining up £200m worth of player like they're fucking cloggers... against Bolton. And if it pans out as a 1-0 win, which is anything as bad as the Pompey game, I'd still feel entitled to raise a few questions.

AND IF IT PANS OUT SHIT THEN ILL BE ONE OF THE FIRST TO HAVE A DIG AT LINEUPS AND TACTICS ECT......LETS JUST SEE IF THIS MAKES SENSE AFTER 45 MINS...TILL THEN IT DOESNT MAKE ANY SENSE TO HAVE A HUGE RANT.

Oh my. Some posters have very short memories!

So it's OK to criticise before kick off when he sticks Benji upfront but when he packs the midfield full of cloggers it's STOP FUCKING WHINGING.

Amazing.
