You make the point regarding Hughes and quote Gillie. Gillie NEVER mentioned Hughes. He criticised Mancini but it was you who brought Hughes out of the cupboard.
Maybe it is you who needs a Hughes sticky. Most of the others have accepted that Hughes has gone and are merely analysing and debating the PRESENT situation.
HUGHES..[strike]IN[/strike]...[strike]OUT[/strike]...GONE....Please keep up.
I didn't direct it at Gillie but general observation. Surely you have noticed how much people still talk about him?
Fuck sake mate, why do you still get so baffled by the comparrisons made between this manager and the last???
Its the way to measure progress, and if I recall correctly, you were more than willing to compare the last two managers to each other. Yet we're not allowed mention hughes' name without being accused of being obsessed with the man? Its fucking silly mate. Its only converstaion and comparrison and its very very valid.
Also, when I was over at the first home game, Gillie was telling me he didn't think hughes was the man, so making out that his opinion on Mancini is based on his love for hughes is way wide of the truth. If anything, I'll bet Gillie would say he didn't like the last fella, but he prefers him to what Mancini has shown so far. MAybe he goes to matches to be entertained, who knows?
People will talk about hughes until Mancini has gone and then it will become less and less... just like with Sven. That's life, you shouldn't get upset when his name is mentioned.
And as for all this "but he had no other attacking options on the bench" shite talk. Well, I suppose he should have thought of that going into the transfer market for that whole month it was open, but instead our three main targets were three defensive midfielders and a young guy (cup tied) whom I presume Mancini knew little or nothing about.
You reap what you sow. He had a few weeks to look at what he needed and HE decided we didn't need an attacking midfielder. And you know what? Its probably because he wants us to play negative, cagey, defensive football.
It makes sense to me.
