i agree with both of your points , but Laporte screwed up badly twice.

I knew this ref would let everything go .

The red card decision was completely wrong . completely.

Half the Stadium left at goal 2.
Embarrassing but what impact does this have on the players?
We need to stop.doing this

I think the impact is the opposite way around mate. The fans were singing their hearts out for most of that match, especially so after the disallowed goal. They supported the team - the players didn’t do their job today.

They would still do it if we were 6-0 up.

My boss and his mates left the Hammers game before the penalties fully expecting us to beat them, I looked at him in dismay. It's not like his journey home is a nightmare there 8+ trains an hour back to his place which is 25 minutes from Waterloo.

I don't get it and I've never done it, even when we are being beat and soaked to the bone.

Still to this day cannot get my head round the droves that left Wembley in 99, all I could see in my peripheral vision was people queueing down the steps there were that many leaving . Its not like the coaches they came on would be leaving early back to Manchester

Glad Pep has called out the ref.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola speaking to BBC Sport: "Many things went wrong. We conceded an early goal, played a good first half but at the same time there was the sending off and the interpretation from the referee.

"The fans were behind us but unfortunately the goal from nothing was disallowed. This afternoon Jonny Evans with the same action got a yellow card. It is interpretation from the referee...we made a mistake for the goal and the second one a yellow or red card it depends on the referee.

On decisions against City: "It's VAR. I don't know the line. It was yellow card in Leicester a red here. The referees are the bosses and they decide. The goal we concede was our mistake."

We seem to do it.more than others.

Today some fans had a go at.some.esrly leavers, 2 opposing protagonists got into a fracas.over it.

If you don't have an early train to catch, I don't get why you wouldn't stay.
Ah well, different folks and all that

We don’t do it anymore than other fans do imo. We notice it because it’s us. Arsenal fans leave at 60 minutes - the stadium is empty.

It’s modern day fans for every team. Back in the day you went home to sit and watch Heartbeat. It’s different times now.

Just a theory. And also at Maine Road the bars inside the stadium stayed open for about an hour after full time as well. My parents stayed to chat with the same people every week after the match for an hour until the traffic had died down.
I’m not sure why, but at the Etihad the bars are closed after half-time. They should just keep them open (like they did when we first moved there) for a bit after the match and let people stay.

City Square might be open but if it’s pissing it down there’s nowhere to go.

Agree is not just us.
Read something that Barcelona had the first El Clasico that wasn't sold out this year. Also they have problems filling the stadium this year, besides the pandemic.
Fans are just like that. Mind that heard some boos from Palace end today when Grealish was with the ball.

Don't think there is real loyalty left.

Don't know, pal, but football is heading in a direction many of us do not relate at all.
I blame the media.

Me too, among others, but fans being treated as customers is at the root of the alienation from the top flight game. :|

As Maze says, alll over the country you will see plenty of empty seats near the end of games and only usually stay full if there’s a real climax to the game. Of course, not much gets mentioned unless it’s us as the media love to cosy up to their click-bait audience.

Little different in the lower leagues where fans stay around to have a pint with the players in the lounge and able to take the 5 to 10 minute walk home.

The BBC live feed reported that fans were leaving Anfield at 2-2 with 10 minutes to go and questioning why you would do that. If I go to the cinema I don't watch the first 80 minutes of the film and leave with 10 minutes to go because I can read about the end of the movie on the internet.

I’m with you, mate. In all the time I’ve been going I’ve only left early twice. One was when Forest beat us in the Cup 3-0 when I had to get the kids back due to school in the morning, the other was when 3-1 up a couple of season back when I was with the Mrs and pre-planned a surprise in town where I couldn’t change the timings. To think, there were many around me who were about to leave just before the Aguero moment until I loudly told my mate to sit the fuck down.

It’s just the way it is, though. Having lived all over the country and various places around the world I will always try and take a game in if we aren’t playing and it’s more noticeable the further you go up the leagues. Some people just don’t want to be stuck in traffic, it’s the way they are.

Ps. Liverpool lost a 2-0 lead so it wasn’t their fault.
