When those chances go in, it's well done to the players.

When they don't, it's bad management. I think that's how it works?

Pretty much

A managers influence once the players are on the pitch is limited. However the manager can make changes during the game if things aren't going to plan and this is an area Pep isn’t renowned for

I dunno mate, I remember not that long ago when he brought on zinchenko and gundo and it worked out perfectly. Possibly the best substitutions I've ever seen.

I do hear what people are saying. He doesn't make as many changes as I'd like during a game when it's not working.

But on the flip side of that, if he was to do what the likes of Carl wanted, we'd probably finish mid table. And then pep would be sacked. And then Carl would be happy.

Hang on... :D

Mate, you’ve given one example of when Pep’s made a change and it’s worked. He’s been here years, there should be more examples.

Liam , anyone with half a football brain knows pep is terrible at making the right sub call at the right time .

Maybe it’s because he’s always had a world class 11 playing that normally wins that when it goes wrong on the pitch with those players he’s fucked on what to do to change it .

I read years ago that he admires Cruyff, who once said there’s no need for a plan B because your plan A should be good enough. Which is correct 99% of the time, but there will always be that occasion that things need changing.

He's definitely not a perfect football manager, you're both right lads. We can all agree on that.

But he's the closest most of the world has ever seen to it.

Now, if you had to rely solely on Carl's posts, you'd think we had helen Keller in charge.

So you're damn right debating is a waste of time

Not sure what was so hilarious with what you just posted but anyhow...

I criticise him too. It's just that non use of subs in games, not using players that I want him to more often etc - It's all most likely down to utilising the whole group and keeping the whole group happy as a whole so that over the course of the entire season we are in thr running to win each competition by the end of it.

And most seasons we are. Which is truly remarkable when all the other top clubs also want the same thing and fall short.

Out of interest, if what you say is true and he is "terrible" when it comes to substitutions and we can assume that's his greatest weakness (I completely disagree as pointed out above obviously), then answer me this please -

What is the secret of his success?

What is his greatest attribute?

The game was crying out for Alverez, the only player up front can press relentlessly. Mahrez is a luxury player, we need players to dig deep as things stand. Steady back 4, Foden on left and Alverez on right, let's built around them as they are the future.

Pep's primary strengths are innovation, it is all about the team, ruthless man management, Alpha leader who passes the glory back to the players (the opposite of Mo), he is a winner and relishes a challenge (look at how many he has seen off - Mo, Klopp, Conte.....)
He has weaknesses, like overthinking, not making substitutions, etc...
His trophy count is phenomenal. What he has done in the PL is remarkable. Not just winning 4 PL titles but rewriting the record books while doing so against a backdrop of Liverpool getting every call in their favor. If City were given the preferential treatment that the Dippers and Rags get, City would be untouchable.
It is not fair to judge him on his CL record. For certain he has made costly mistakes, like the final Vs. Chelsea and knock out Vs. Monaco. The flip side is that City have been blatantly cheated several times, for ex, Vs. Dippers and Spurs.

Pep is the current No.1 manager in world football but he does fuck up occasionally and we as fans are justified in calling that out.

Agree with pretty much all of the above.

But some on here certainly call him out a hell of a lot more than "occasionally" ans saying he is terrible or shocking at substitutions is ridiculous.

No top manager is terrible at substitutions, let alone the best in the world.

Some on here blame him whenever anything goes wrong, whether it's a missed chance or a sending off.

Unfortunately Carl, when it comes to your opinion on pep, no one can take you seriously at this stage.

Its pretty clear at this stage that you'll only be happy when he's gone. I hope you're not happy for a long, long time

Suicide watch?

I'll certainly be devastated. Just like any genuine fan of the club I'd imagine?

What a strange thing to say to another fan of the same club when we've the best manager in the world.

Really, really odd.

If anyone is devastated when a manager leaves the club then they can go follow that manager to their next club. Save themselves from the embarrassment of being “devastated”.

They're not going to follow them to their next club just like you didn't follow Kola as,we're all Blues- doesn't mean we can't be devastated, pissed off call it what you want.
