Josh goes out on loan and we’re stuck with Gomez and Cancelo.

Would the kid actually be any worse than Gomez? Fuckin pathetic, just because he’s Catalonian he’s been given more of a chance than someone from the academy.

Absolutely no positives from that game at all. Cancelo has gone to pot since just before the World Cup, he was never the greatest defender but he was always dangerous going forward. He can't do a simple pass now or take a throw in.
Likewise what has happened to Foden, started in his supposed best position and as the main man should have been the go to and did nothing as he's done so often recently.
Gomez is shocking, Phillips who I was looking forward to seeing start was too. Palmer seems scared stiff to go forward, what was the keeper doing for the 2nd. Alvarez offered nothing.

One positive was that one of our academy players did well. Shame it was playing for Southampton. Hopefully we’re able to sell Phillips in the summer and bring Lavia back.

I think we miss Ruben at the back...If nothing else we miss a leader there who brings people into line.
I know that doesn't solve everything but it would be one piece in the jigsaw

I want to believe that we threw it away because of the fixture calendar that is fucked after the WC and we will focus on the Champions League and league, potentially doing the same in the cup, which is wank, if you ask me.

I want to believe that last night was not another monumental brainfart. I refuse to believe that someone like him can do voluntary something like that tactically wise.

There is another aspect here, I think the players lack the hunger domestically. Let's look at our season so far. Did anyone actually play well that was here last year? The only ones that are having a great season are Akanji and Haaland. The rest mediocre. Things like this happen after you win a title. I was expecting it last year, to be honest.
Is not the system, I think the players are underperforming and we miss a decent assistant manager.

And I don't blame Gomez, to be honest. The fella was a creative mid, like Zinch, just 1 year and a half ago. Now after a season as a left back in the Belgian League, for a team that finished 3rd, you expect him to be what? The fella is trying to enjoy his chance, is the staff that refuse to buy a left back for years now and keeps us exposed. While, at the same time, they send on loan the only young left back that actually looked good when he came on.

Like it or not, as good as we are under Pepito, there are things that define logic that at the end of the day are fucking things in our progress.

PP - Gomez couldn’t take a throw in last night. We can’t blame him for not being at the standard we need - that’s on Pep for buying him purely because he’s Catalonian, but basics like that we definitely can blame him for.

The catalonian favoritism is an issue that we must fix.
Garcia was a great example.

It just doesn't make sense why the left back issue persist, when wing backs are one of the most important elements in his style? Just remember that before 17/18 he changed them all. Brought Danilo, Walker and the lump of shit.

Garcia was given a chance, I wonder if Hardwood-Bellis will be given the same opportunities next season.

Harwood Bellis is a good young player but he’s a CB isn’t he? The question is whether Josh Wilson-Esbrand will convince Pep he can start important matches after his loan spell ends. Will he be promoted to full senior squad status next season. If not we’ll surely buy a top class left back and his chance may have gone.

Yep. We’re talking about comparisons with Garcia and the opportunities he was given because of where he’s from, who is also a CB.

But what has Gomez done to deserve a chance in these types of matches over Josh W-E? Apart from being Catalonian?

Based on the history with him, a loan out means adios for Esbrand.
The only one that sorta played was Angelion, but we sold him fast.

The Club still seem to be giving out signals that they very much see him as part of the future. Very important he gets minutes with Coventry and uses them to good effect.

Yeah, what I've mentioned above. Footballers have this.
Oddly, it's because the titles we've won with all of them.

He’s right to be fair. Not sure why this happens a lot with us - the other year when Fern had to sit everyone down and give them a talking to and we went on a great run following that.

If the desire is there but we lose then fair enough, but Southampton won last night because they wanted it more and were in our faces.

It probably happens to every successful teams. The difference between those that overcome it and those that don't is the leadership. We need a Fern.

Agree. Gundo was seen doing a couple of speeches last season, so hopefully he follows up what he’s said to the media and speaks to the players.

53 million On Phillips and Gomez............you have to laugh don't you.
Maybe Phillips will come good but I doubt it - hes always been slow and he always plays like a crab..passes sideways and backwards.
THEY SAY SWEARING IS DUE TO A LIMITED VOCABULARY. I KNOW THOUSANDS OF WORDS, BUT I STILL PREFER "FUCK OFF" TO "GO AWAY"
