That was when football was enjoyable though... and with an atmosphere football fans wanted.

Away games are definitely like a "can't miss out" for all the characters I guess like home games probably used to be too back in the day.

If only I could gey away tickets for the decent kos only end up getting them if it's south coast / London midweek or 12 sat.

The Old Toilet looks really crap from above, for sure. Hopefully Ratcliffe builds a fantastic new stadium and they do what Chelsea famously did in the 70s - disappeared for about 12 years with a colossal empty stand which left them broke

That's the one thing I miss from when we were shite. I used to do loads of away games, now can't get tickets for love nor money.

Ah the joy of fighting your way to Selhurst Park, through the traffic. Always optimistic and always crap. Wimbledon and Palace

I took my eldest lad, now 37, to Notts Co in the cup when he was about 8 or 9. The whole area was awash with blues. We were shite as usual, down by 2 goals and then a miracle- D Brightwell scored 2 to equalise for a replay. Only thing he ever did.

Another noteable moment- the Dell, in that old deathtrap wooden stand on the side. Stefan Karl, of all people, scored from a free kick for 1 nil win. Only away win that season. :D

Selhurst Bloody Park, what a place to put a football stadium. For some reason I always bumped in John Stapleton there, I've never seen him anywhere else. Also met Blue Man Dan there once.
As you say, always optimistic and always crap, but that seemed to make it all extra special when we won.

But it wasn't like that in the early days, one of my abiding memories is Colin Bell scoring that ridiculous volley at Stamford Bridge in the early 70's.
That team was a joy to watch.

But of course, none of us knew what was to come.

My missus first City game and one of very few she's been to since was Selhurst, would've been late 01 or early 02 season. iirc we drew 1-1 and when Pearce got subbed he just climbed in to the stand with the fans!

As others have said, horrible place to get to and how it's never burnt down is beyond me too.

Weirdly, the match was against Wimbledon but being played at Selhurst. Pearce got sent off bang on 90 mins so just hoped over the stand and sat in an empty seat.

One of my favourite seasons.

That season was the first season I’d seen City play really good football. With Keegan it was all or nothing. After only ever seeing us be crap I loved it

The whole Walsh/Rosler/Beagrie/Quinn thing looked really good one year - there was a big win over Spurs (5-2?) which was played over and over. Then after about 6 or 7 games it all settled down to the usual shite - was it Brian Horton?

Yeah that was one of my first matches - Spurs in that purple kit with Klinsman.

Unfortunately that summer, Lee sacked Horton appointed Ball and the rest is history.

My dad went to school with one of Alan Balls assistants. Used to get free tickets. Think he was the only City fan gutted when Ball got sacked.

We sit in L2 of North Stand. There is water everywhere. On sunday there were puddles on the concourse where the bars and food are being served. Fuck the pretty pictures - sort it out
