Why extend it to give other fans more of a stick to beat us with? Build all the lovely stuff outside it, but we’re not ready for a 60k seater stadium yet.
Maine Road 84,000 v Stoke - all time record league attendance!

Away games are definitely like a "can't miss out" for all the characters I guess like home games probably used to be too back in the day.
If only I could gey away tickets for the decent kos only end up getting them if it's south coast / London midweek or 12 sat.

That's the one thing I miss from when we were shite. I used to do loads of away games, now can't get tickets for love nor money.

Ah the joy of fighting your way to Selhurst Park, through the traffic. Always optimistic and always crap. Wimbledon and Palace
I took my eldest lad, now 37, to Notts Co in the cup when he was about 8 or 9. The whole area was awash with blues. We were shite as usual, down by 2 goals and then a miracle- D Brightwell scored 2 to equalise for a replay. Only thing he ever did.
Another noteable moment- the Dell, in that old deathtrap wooden stand on the side. Stefan Karl, of all people, scored from a free kick for 1 nil win. Only away win that season.

As others have said, horrible place to get to and how it's never burnt down is beyond me too.

Weirdly, the match was against Wimbledon but being played at Selhurst. Pearce got sent off bang on 90 mins so just hoped over the stand and sat in an empty seat.
One of my favourite seasons.

Yep that's the one and now you say it it was a red, those were the days

That season was the first season I’d seen City play really good football. With Keegan it was all or nothing. After only ever seeing us be crap I loved it

The whole Walsh/Rosler/Beagrie/Quinn thing looked really good one year - there was a big win over Spurs (5-2?) which was played over and over. Then after about 6 or 7 games it all settled down to the usual shite - was it Brian Horton?

Yeah that was one of my first matches - Spurs in that purple kit with Klinsman.
Unfortunately that summer, Lee sacked Horton appointed Ball and the rest is history.

My dad went to school with one of Alan Balls assistants. Used to get free tickets. Think he was the only City fan gutted when Ball got sacked.
