My favourite times supporting City are still when we weee in Divisons 1 and 2. We were shit, but that was my childhood - going watching the blues on a weekend.

Probably a lot of nostalgia, but I didn’t care if we won and lost I was just happy sat in the Kippax.

1999 will always be my favourite win - being about 10 years old and getting launched into the air when Dickov scored. The season after running on the pitch at Ewood Park. The Keegan season.

I echo these thoughts, as I suspect do a lot of blues.

Don't get me wrong, these last 15 years have been beyond our wildest dreams, as we all support our team hoping we will one day win the league, the champions league - more in hope than expectation. But once we got there I have to admit I found it all a bit 'meh'

I found myself really conflicted during the Mancini era before I moved away from Manchester, to the point that the year before we won the league I took a break from attending games for a few months.....as magical as it was watching players like Silva and Toure, the predictability of how we played and overpowered teams, took my enjoyment out of the game.

The first 4 years under pep were entertaining, but bar the odd game, I haven't found city to be particularly entertaining to watch now for a couple of seasons, and rarely make the effort these days to stay up late due to the time difference to watch the game midweek. In fact it wasnt until about 11am this morning that I remembered City had even played last night.

I don't think we're ungrateful, I just think as we on this board and as a population of fans collectively get older we long for the days when watching City was an important part of our social lives in our formative years, and I think I echo Mase when I hark back to the days in my teens and twenties when watching city home and away was part of who I was, the adventure, the unknown, the laughs.

I can genuinely take it or leave it these days - perhaps part of it is that I moved away from Manchester, but I think even if I was still there, I don't think I would have kept my season ticket on despite all the success.

100%

Since last Xmas you can count on one hand the number of games I’ve seen 20 or more minutes of that haven’t featured us. And that includes International games

I simply have lost interest and even just two years of always watch the Sunday games and most of the Saturday lunchtime and teatime games and probably midweek as well.

I don’t miss it at all.

My biggest fear is I lose interest in City and stop caring.

The influence Guardiola has had on football as a whole has been mental when you look at how football is played now vs 10 years ago, but I don't know if it's part of what we feel is ruining football.

Every fucker wants to play possession based football like a game of chess. I think City under pep took things to such an insane level of quality, I find it really frustrating now watching other teams play - realising how poorly drilled other teams are, I now resent 'professionals' making silly misplaced passes, rushing in possession, not having awareness of whats around them on the pitch - I find it really hard work for example watching England, they just look amateur in comparison to what we've been treated to.

I don't know if Pep's way has caused football to stagnate - but honestly despite the fact Klopp was a cunt, at least his brand of football being a bit more cavalier makes games watchable, but now that's gone, for me the Premier league is getting close to unwatchable.

If it wasn’t for keeping my daughter’s interest in City alive, I’d have fucked off football a few season ago. Probably after the Treble season

Too many games.

What's seldom is wonderful!

I remember when I was younger thinking the summer dragged by because it was off season.

Now there's probably not even a 3 week break.

It's pathetic

Agreed. I used to look forward to a weekend and watching City. Now there’s three games a week sometimes, it’s just overkill.

Guardiola has had the biggest influence on football and how it’s played for decades. Probably 75% of all teams now try and play from the back and try to control possession. Only a handful are any good at it. When it works it’s a thing of beauty but when it doesn’t…..

Even International teams do this despite it being blatantly obvious that the players can’t do it. Southgate is a massive culprit for this

I’m hoping that the next manager we have, whenever that happens, has us playing a bit more directly as just recently I’ve found myself bored watching us

Didn’t think I would get much response from this to be honest , but I can remember them days very well at the time I was doing a lot of travelling but always looked out for Our result it 9 times out of ten disappointed me but every now and then there would be a happy smile on my face . City is in my blood and nothing will ever change that.

For those longing for the days of going to home and away games. Tim Park's book "A season with Hellas Verona" is a good read. Limoncella train trips all day long down to Sicily for matches etc. Different land , different teams , same fan obsession with the club.

Bear

Like Mase and most of the lads who lived through it I had a blast at on the Kippax and Main Stand during the late 80,s and 90's and saw some proper shit football yet the atmosphere and buzz around the place was amazing and addictive.

For any of the newer members on here, my first game was in the Platt Lane end in Nov 1987 taken as a lad from Huddersfield by my Dad to see Town trashed 10 - 1. I loved what is saw and luckily two lads from my village were Blues and then took me season in season out, home and away.

I've not been fortunate enough to physically see the highs of the past 10 or so years but am so grateful to the Sheihk, Kaldoon, Pep, Mancini, Pellers, Serg, Yaya, Zab, Komps, KDB, Phil and countless others who have brought us such spoils.

I also have huge gratitude to this place and the posters on here.

It’s just too much football.

It’s amazing being a city fan and being successful. Being blue has always been a pleasure and a privilege but winning shit and sticking two fingers up at the rest of the world is even better.

I ve seen shit I was at Halifax Shrewsbury. Saw Bury and county batter us. Irenew but go when it suits me. I love City and get all the points made.

But cmon it’s Derby day nothing changes shit or reigning champions. If you want to go back in time. Crack on shit is not for me and a tenner it would not be for you within a month.

Carl you say the away support is better than the home support. That’s true 100%. What you are wrong about is the fans are following City through passion and love of the club Pep and the team. having great time doing it.

It’s Derby day shit or not it’s the cunts at home. Let’s beat them and enjoy it.

I went to most away matches as I was based in the south and yes, the away support was better than the home support and still is.
I think the problem at home is there is no Kippax ( standing) and this has 100% killed the atmosphere ...not just at our ground but at many others as well.....times change but the cunts didn't need to take away standing areas, but they did.

Your last part of your comment is spot on ''having great time doing it '' but so much has been taken away from the game that ,IMO ,that feeling only comes sporadically these days.
