All this Pep likes a small squad schtick is because he cannot manage a large squad.

There are no easy games in the PL. Two games a week is pretty hard going, what I do take issue with is peps small squad scenario.
A few injuries/dip in form of players and we struggle.
Also world class recruitment and sending young stars out on loan rather than keeping them in the squad makes no sense to me.

That’s not the Premier League’s brutality or fixture congestion biting us - Its Pep’s ego that’s the issue : small squad because he demands it mate ! He preaches control but shits it when it’s not going his way and bizarrely makes subs that has every pundit and fan scratching their heads - happens more often than not.
If even a depleted Fulham can nearly nick it off us when we’re coasting, the league’s fine - finger is pointed at the manager mate.

How's it a small squad exactly. We may not like them all but that's a different argument.
Unchanged team for the last 2 league games. 9 subs, Trafford, Ake, Stones, Khus, Marmoush, Ait Nouri, Cherki, Savinho, Lewis.
That's 20 without Bobb, Rodri, Kova and Ortega.
This small squad idea is a myth.

As far as total registered players go City have around 25-26 senior outfield players plus goalkeepers, but this includes a handful of fringe or academy promotions rather than established depth compared to the main teams we compete with - it’s what I’ve dug up but I’m open to be corrected.

Comparison to Rivals:
Arsenal: 28-30 (deeper midfield and full-back options).
Liverpool: 27-29 (strong rotation across attack and defense - even if slot has them playing bingo football at the moment )
Chelsea: 30+

How is that a myth when the mighty Genius himself said he wants a small squad?
And not just that we have a small squad, we have a small squad with sicknotes.

According to Transfermarkt, we have a senior squad of 26. There are at least 5 clubs with smaller senior squads. The PL average is 27.4, skewed slightly by Sunderland having 35.

Combined, out of 26, we need to take 3 Central Defensive midfielders (Rodri, Kovacic, Phillips) out of the equation, which largely explains why the team is picking itself at the moment.

On form, Pep's preferred 11 seems to be:
Donarumma
Nunes
Dias
Gvardiol
Oreilly
-
Nico
Silva
Reindeers
-
Doku
Haaland
Foden

When you consider that this leaves us with the following 12 fit players..

Cherki (not found his groove yet)
Marmoush (injured most of the season)
Ait Nouri (jury still out)
Khusanov (Pep doesn't seem to like him)
Lewis (Pep seems to have lost trust in him)
Ake
Stones
Savinho
Bobb
The other 3 are goalkeepers

It's remarkable that we're 2nd with that squad, and if we stay there or even win the league, I think it will be one of Pep's most remarkable achievements - we're much better than last year, but that for me is coming from a combination of 2 things only - Nico understanding his role better and a more attacking intent. But in both cases, when a team gets after us like we've seen recently, or in Newcastle/Villa game, we're struggling to stem the tide.

The squad still needs major renovation - the players who Pep doesn't fancy need to be shipped out rather than just occupying space.

The last sentence is very pertinent. I wonder whether we wont sell many as the next incoming manager might fancy them? And it's not likely to be long before Pep retires of his own volition anyway

I'd agree with all of that, Party. Our midfield without Rodri is just about invisible as a defensive unit, hence teams are just overrunning us in the 2nd half of games.

The reason were better than last year is players like Foden, Dias, Haaland, Doku,Nunes and O Reilly are playing better add to that new signings such as Don and Nico G have contributed. But really its the established core of the team that has improved and the 'rebuild' has not had the impact some might think.

What are the odds he still plays Nunes at RB tomorrow and Savinho has some role to play over the 90 mins.

Surely the stubborn cunt has to make changes for tomorrow’s game ?

If the below is true (regarding Cherki's assist for Foden), please just fuck off now...

"I never saw Messi play a cross like he has done," said Guardiola. "Messi is the best player to play the game but I never saw these kind of crosses.

"Crosses are fine, right or left or which part of your feet, it doesn't matter. If it is effective, it is fine, but I like the simplicity because I learned from Messi that I never make a mistake with the simple things.

"The simple things he does perfectly, then he dribbles past four or five players. I want players to do the simple things well and after that you have special talent and he can do whatever he wants.

"But if he doesn't work now, it will be a problem. He will be in trouble."

Bizarre as fuck. Praise Cherki for thinking outside the box FFS. He ran the show today. Instead he openly says he wants to chain him.

It is true.
Not surprised if he had a go at Dias also for shooting outside the box.
It always has to be his way. Only his way

Pep Guardiola: “Rayan [Cherki] always in his career has - I’m pretty sure - at twelve, thirteen, fourteen, fifteen [years old], been better than all his mates. By far. I have the feeling he has done whatever he wants.

But here, no. He has to do what he has to do for the team! When he is able to do it, he will play a lot of minutes during many years at this club because he has special quality. But he has to do it! Otherwise…

Has he improved that side of his game in recent weeks? Maybe he has realised when he hasn’t played much. On the bench, maybe he has to realise that; it’s so important to do it

What an absolute fucking joke from Pep !!!. We smash Sunderland 3-0, playing some proper football for once, Cherki pulls off that ridiculous rabona assist that has everyone playign pocket billiards– even gets compared to Messi – and then Pep has to go and chuck in that little dig at the end? "If he doesn't work now, it will be a problem"? Out of order you blad cunt !!!. The lad's just bossed the fucking game, set up two goals including one with a bit of magic that Pep admits even Messi never pulled off, and instead of just letting him enjoy the moment, he's already threatening him with "trouble"?
Pep's all about that control freak vibe, isn't he? Praises the flair but can't resist slapping on the "do it my way or else" warning. Cherki's young, hungry, and just delivered ffs !!!
If this is how Baldie motivates, no wonder we've had dips during this season.

What a cock !!

Should have been said in private but I'd agree with Pep's sentiment. We all feel that Pep's style at times is too many touches but perhaps he has been trying to reign in some of our players. Nunes, Doku perhaps Cherki all have beenblosing the ball and no being too productive, feeding Haaland's frustration. The key is being consistentl very good rather than being brilliant and shite.

Bizarre as fuck. Praise Cherki for thinking outside the box FFS. He ran the show today. Instead he openly says he wants to chain him.

Not being too productive? Cherki is top assister in the league and he's hardly played

Are you on drugs?
