Seemed an ankle injury didn't it? They usually don't last too long so I reckon he will be back for the world cup. I agree he looked to be doing good before the went off.

Thought that was the real turning point of the game. They were always going to score with a header, that was written before kick off but they took over the midfield & got their passing game going as well when Barry left the field. They almost scored when we were down to 10 men & it looked as though we still had 10 men when Vieira came on.

Barry & DeJong were making 10 yards on Spurs players to get in challenges etc. Very impressed with both of them in that game.

Anybody know how bad his injury was? Just thinking about the World Cup...

I have to say I thought he was a bit anonamous and was clearly carrying a bit of a niggle anyway - I'd have played Paddy V from the start, but then, I am a football management God

This.

Especially the last sentence.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

Turnin g point in the game when he went off, he was excellent last night.

Also some guy near us was singing a song about him to the tune of Lady Gaga's paparazzi. Quality - but catch all the words. Anyone else heard it?

Totally agree. The game was lost when Barry left the pitch. We were looking good up until then. After he left we lost in midfield.

I think he had run of hundred billion games without injury or something like that. Then he comes to City and gets three injuries in a season.

Can it be anymore typical than that?

He just has a sprained ankle but will miss the westham game.

Gareth Barry will see a specialist on Friday after limping out of the defeat to Spurs.

The England midfielder has sprained his right ankle but the full extent of any damage will not be known until further investigation has taken place.

He will definitely miss the Blues last game of the season at West Ham on Sunday afternoon as will fellow ankle victim Stephen Ireland.

i agree that he played well and that his going changed the balance of the game in spurs favour.

Overall what was highlighted yet again was the lack of a quality central link player or forward mid. My take is that Barry has been learning to play that role and has improved.. maybe PV has inspired him in many ways. Barry was doing a good job and starting to threaten more and more. PV just hasn't got the capacity to play 2 games back to back at the level he played the Villa game.

We need a brilliant forward mid to be fighting it out with a renewed Ireland. Barry can then be an option if needed in that role or working with a FM just behind.

I can see Mancini looking to stick to a 4-4-2 next season.. the focus then really is the two central mids and we need different qualities for different games.
