Heskey also hit the ball right at the 'keeper earlier, yet the ITV commentators can't stop sucking his plumbs!

Besides, why the fuck should we sell one of our players based on how he plays for England??

It takes a kind! Good game from us really. and if we bsort out our attacking options we'll be sound.

What's that all about, Ade on BBC and Paddy on ITV; are we special?

The performance wasn't great. It's probaby better for them knowing they have to remedy mistakes than people blowing smoke up their arse after a win.

For me, Hart and Joe Cole should have started. Carragher was not the answer for Ledley King... Who should not have been taken if he wasn't fit.... And this is something everyone has known for what...6/8 years. Dawson should be in IMO.

As for SWP. He did as well as he could out of position. I think Cole gives the team better balance down that side.

But were likely to see Barry back in the Middle and Gerrard on the left against Algeria

Crouch would have put Heskey's chance away though, and might even have scored his headed halfchance. Someone said something to the effect of: he can do what Heskey does AND score.

Quite lucky, but you had chances. It leaves it open to who wiins the group, and personally I want to come top. This game has had an impact already, I'm just hoping this is one of those where we go from strength to strength, as whoever finishes second, isn't quite as confident.

Don't quite understand some of the pundits saying we played well. I thought we were very ordinary. Proved that lamps and gerrard can't play together in a 4 (again). Not sure what heskey did, as surely forwards are expected to score occasionally. Rooney was very poor, but he's played on his own up front all season so he should have been fine with heskey.

We'll still qualify, as will the septics, and drawing the first game doesn't mean much - check england 66 and italy 82 for proof.

I'll give you the chance. Didn't he score fro similar in the 5-1in Munich or was that Owen?
He's obviously lacking in confidence from a scoring aspect, but I thought Heskey answered a lot of his critics tonight.

Respectfully, you are wrong about the header. Heskey was always going backwards, so any header would have lacked power.

i carn't understand all the fuss ,england drew with a team that beat the spanish last year and who almost beat the "mighty brazil "
as well as you only have to play fcuking algeria & slovenia this will go down to goal difference between england and the yanks for top spot

Lol.
I can see us drawing against mighty Angola if we are not lucky.
Was very ordinary performance, but don't forget the 'heat' factor again.

green came up with a good save against altidore at the near post, i knew that was going to be our best chance to win. After that we had to work for the draw. That being said, I don't think england spurned any amazing chances. couple of long shots went close but didn't really threaten and the best chance (besides the goal) was heskey shooting straight at howard. Couple crosses that our D dealt with pretty well, and onyewu looked very solid even though he had only played 1 competitive game in the last 10 months. He couldn't match crouch's height, but was much too physical for him.

Was that the save that accidentally hit Green's trailing hand and went onto the post?

Heskey shooting at Howard is 'spurning an amazing chance'. So was SWP lobbing it into his arms when set up beautifully by Shrek.

No, without Green's undistinguished contribution it had narrow England win written all over it. Lets hope Capello's learnt his lesson on him.

Why were all the "experts" and the manager saying we played well? we were fuclin awful! The only player that played anywhere near potential was Johnson.

SWP was crap - but at least he had an excuse playing on the left, why the hell did Capello leave it until injury time to switch him and Lennon? Green was an accident waiting to happen, no where near as good as Hart or James.

Well that was a tough slow grind it out game.... the lions seem to be roaring in the first
seven minutes, but then gradually growled less and less. I was amazed at the lack of team work
and cohesion that England showed. Gerrard started well and then tried to do too much, going end to end.
Rooney was kept totally off balance by Jay Demerit and Co., after they cut down his passing lanes he seemed
like he was a dog being shown a card trick.

Gerrard and Cole seemed to be really uncomfortable around set pieces with the bigger US players like 'Gooch.'

Can we please sign Oguchi Onyewu away from Milan???

As for the US, I think we got a good result. We used to the same setup 4-5-2. but didn't just kick the ball
up the field after every possession. Well not until the last twelve minutes. We definitely played better than
we did in 20
