That's bloody scorching where Paul comes from!carl_feedthegoat wrote:paulmclaren wrote:Lol.
I can see us drawing against mighty Angola if we are not lucky.
Was very ordinary performance, but don't forget the 'heat' factor again.
Bet It's bleeding boiling over there?

Didn't they used to make Spurs' kits?King Kev wrote:I'm sorry but I can't see how commenting on the 60 Games (or however many it is) over the World Cup is going to fit into one thread!
One thread per game makes much more sense in my humle opinion.

They missed Barry like I would miss having hole in my arse.
Ive never seen a more overated one trick pony than Lampard.
Green shouldnt have been in there in the first place.
I'd have gambled with King but it wasnt to be.
Heskey is fucking shocking.
Awful.
Capello looks to have lost the plot at the vital moment. We hould have smashed an average American side tonight.

"Average" American side? I'll grant you, that on paper, England is superior.
But on the field.. it's a completely different story, as was witnessed today. Chemistry counts for a lot. England did not have it for the most part, today.

Are you on drugs??? it wasn't hot atall, you could see the players breath in was that cold.

Imo it was a decent performance for the 1st game & important not to lose. US did well but England were better & should have won. Capello knows about tournament play & if England are to do well in this one, it will be by gritting it out like the Germans & Italians do, not by hammering everybody. It was a much better 1st game than England's usual showing & there's not much wrong that can't be fixed.
My biggest worry other than the keepers, is that we're relying on two of the slowest most overrated defenders in the country; King & Carragher. Should have taken Dawson. The loss of camel gob could decide it.
Was there anyone on the planet who thought Heskey would score?

He should have taken Johnno and not SWP.
He should play 4-5-1 in the next game with Rooney on his own and Gerard up supporting him.
King shouldnt have been taken in the first place. His record says it all. Playing a possible 8 (?) games in a month, more than 2 a week, we already know he can't do that.
Goal keeper isnt that important, all 3 are good keepers, all 3 have weaknesses and will make mistakes. Seaman had a lobbing weakness, Shilton couldnt save penners or jump, James has crazy moments, Hart is very young still.

So if the biggest criticism that people can lay on Hart is that he is very young, will that cost us more points than 'can't catch a simple shot that is weak as piss, rolling along the ground from 40 yards and spills it into the net'?
I don't see his age being a negative, I think if he plays and plays well, we might solve a problem position for the next 4 world cups.
