I don't think Milner has the kind of electric acceleration that some wingers have to beat their man like Lennon and Walcott. He was though a schoolboy district 100m champion, he has the kind of speed and energy to support an attack quickly as a box to box midfielder.
Not sure if bidding much higher than we are, when we are trying to avoid being seen as a club that can be taken for a financial ride makes much sense though.

We can all give our opinions on what we think of Milner & his price but it counts for nothing. It's Mancini's decision, not us bunch of amateur tacticians & armchair managers on here. Milner is worth whatever price Mancini puts on him. If he's reached that point now then we move on, if not we up the bid. If Mancini's plan for next season & the future has Milner as an integral part then we can haggle as much as we want for now, but if it doesn't work, we pay the fee even if we don't like it.

No point in people on here putting their own price on him because of what they think he can or can't do, it's how much Mancini thinks we need him that's important. If he's essential; we buy him.

So long as it's not 30 mil

I've heard we've got him for £29,999999.99 so everyone's happy.

Rumour linking us with Jovetic.

Probably bollox but I wish it was true. I mentioned him on this thread somewhere in the dim past, (don't know if I got his club right tho! ) fantastic talent imo & we've been linked with him for several years. Saw him destroy England's kids some years ago & he's getting better & better. No idea where we'd play him in the current team though unless lying deep in place of a striker. I'd like to see us do a deal on this lad for an option to buy him in the future.

I kind of agree that our view of a players ability and value may be at complete variance from the managers and it is his that counts.
Not sure if it is him or Marwood/Cook/Khaldoon who ultimately decide what we pay . My main point was though that if as we repeatedly state we don't want to be taken for a ride in the transfer market it makes little sense to keep going back with ever increasing offers whatever our initial target price.

Oh I fully agree in most cases, but there may be one or two players Mancini views as key to his plans. The fact that Milner is something different to our other players makes me wonder if he falls into that catagory. We'll see anyhow. Villa may give in before then.

Would've been top signing. Alongside Ozil, future of European football judging by the couple of times I saw him last season.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

Just read that Jovetic rumour myself.

I would LOVE if this went through, what a player in the making. The closest prospect I've seen to Messi. Obviously a way to go, but there's few like him with the ball at his feet.

Please Please get him !!

Look on youtube for last season's Fiorentina-Bayern in the CL, he almost single-handedly brought down Bayern before Robben scored a couple of Robbens

Yeah mate, I've been going on about this guy after every game I've seen him in. He took Liverpool apart as well last season.

The type of player that gets you up and out of your seat everytime he gets the ball - like Ali B or SWP back in the day. Its the exciting players that draw support and make sure the ground is full every week and he's definitely one of them, as is Ozil.

Stoke City line up bold move for Manchester City's Roque Santa Cruz

Stoke City are considering an ambitious move for the Manchester City striker Roque Santa Cruz, one of a number of players available for transfer at Eastlands as Roberto Mancini looks to trim his squad. Santa Cruz, who has been plagued by injury problems since arriving from Blackburn, is likely to command less than half the £17.5m fee City paid for him 12 months ago.

Tony Pulis, the Stoke manager, is keen to bring in a powerful striker this summer and Santa Cruz has come under consideration after other attempts have ended in frustration. Carlton Cole, the West Ham United forward, and Wigan Athletic's Hugo Rodallega have both been strongly linked to Stoke as Pulis seeks to add some much-needed firepower to a side who finished as the joint second-lowest scorers in the Premier League last season.

Whether Santa Cruz would be receptive to Stoke's interest is unclear. His stock was high when he left Blackburn to be reunited with his former manager Mark Hughes but he made only six Premier League starts last season and contributed only four goals in 22 appearances as injuries led to a stop-start campaign. City are willing sellers and will listen to offers for a player who turns 30 next year.

One potential problem for Stoke could be Santa Cruz's salary, with the former Bayern Munich player understood to be earning close to £90,000 a week at City on a contract that has four years to run. Stoke, however, have demonstrated their desire to compete for high-profile players in the recent past, with Pulis admitting last summer that he was interested in signing Michael Owen before the former England international joined Manchester United.

Babelfish surpasses itself in gibberish from Tuttomercato with Adebayor welcoming Balotelli:

Words to the honey those dell' togolese forward Emmanuel Adebayor addressed to Mario Balotelli, in sight of the probable passage dell' Italian forward dall' Inter to the Manchester City: " Balotelli has gained a lot, ago played decisive, is a soccer player fortissimo. I have always worked with great soccers player and Mario it is. It will be a pleasure to meet it, he is original of the Ghana therefore African as me. In this moment, it would be of sure the welcome to the Manchester City. If he will sign for we we will be all happy ones, because an other player of classe" would arrive

We will all be happy ones!

'Nearly official ' - Javier Garrido is one step from Lazio, for €2.5M. Goal.com (Spanish version)

Tevez is separated from his childhood sweetheart Vanesa and is now officially about town with actress Brenda Asnicar (not transfer just press stuff).

Benfica are using us as a bargaining chip with Real in the transfer of David Luiz - well, either that or we are still after him! (Various)

Mario Balotelli's move to Manchester City has moved a step closer after Inter Milan president Massimo Moratti revealed the striker is on his way out of the club.

The clubs have been in talks over a deal thought to be worth £24million for the 19-year-old.

Moratti told Sky Italia: "Everyone is right about Balotelli, he is a talent, who in my opinion, has yet to express himself 100 per cent, but this talent, in this moment, doesn't seem so indispensable.

"We have important offers and objectives of an economic character, so you make a sacrifice with the player who everyone wants, not with the one who you try to sell and no one wants.

"Balotelli remains a great talent, but for us it's almost an obligation to exit in this way. I definitely had a good relationship with him, then again I don't know what he'll say about that."

(And that was in English - no translation!! )
