A point against either Chelsea or the scum is a decent point at anytime.It was achieved with no ambition whatsoever but I have to believe that will come in time as we grow as a team.I don't think Tevez was very close to 100% fit and with no Mario, Mancini decided on the ultra cautious approach and we got a point. Now for 3 more on Saturday.

I'm pissed off at how negative we were but this 'they were there for the taking' is complete crap. They were well organised and played well, even us playing good attacking football they would have been hard to break down.

The fact that he chooses to play Yaya up front rather than Adebayor says a lot about Ade's future with us.
I would have taken Yaya off, he was adding nothing to the game. By playing him where he did. it meant that they had the extra man in midfield. Yaya as our extra man didn't pose enough threat in the game to make him a danger.
Milner is far more mobil, which is what we needed.
When he brought Johnno on, Milner should have dropped into the middle and Yaya should have gone for a sit down.


Hopefully when we buy a new striker, Mancini will allow 2 strikers and Silva to drop in behind as the creative general.

Very frustrated by this negative stuff.

i think the thing is he is trying to play this italian style football.
defend deep and attack on the break , every single game we have played this season we have done this somtimes to good effect but when its not working he cant change the game round.
i obviousley know far less about football than our manager but united were there for the taking.and i bit more positive football should have easily been enough to beat a very weak united team. imo.
against birmingham he needs to decide about his midfield and just choose 2 out of barry ,de jong , yaya. personaly i would start with the 1st 2 and aj and silva either side of them

A point away at the swamp playing like that and you'd take it, not convinced at all by the way we played. Too many gaps between our midfield and forwards therefore we carried no threat going forward "en masse".

Under normal circumstances I would be happy to agree with that Dronny mate but if we play at the swamp against a rag teram that is there for the taking, I would expect us to go and take them. If we tried but got a draw, I'd be satisfied. If we failed to try and got a draw, I'd feel as frustrated as tonight.

Even though I thought it was a god-awful game by us, Mancini has actually pulled it out the bag in a way. United gained 3 points from this game last season but now they've lost 2 this and we've gained one. And considering who they've played compared to us, we aren't actually in a bad position.

I've got a feeling that Mancini has planned his season out and set his trajectory according to each game, and sets the team up accordingly. Even if it ain't pretty to watch and the lads could play a more natural game, the points are there for all to see. Four points in front of 5th is more than acceptable at this level, don't you agree?

Yes mate you are factually correct but teams become successful when they take opportunities. The rags have played crap for most of this season but they have taken their opportunities by turning losses into draws and draws into wins. They sit above us.
Tonight we may have gained 1pt from last season but it was a 3pt opportunity lost.

I'm also concerned about his constant comments about 2 games in a few days. Every other team had the same situation this week, so stop bitching. Whilst our squad is the same size as everone else's, there should be more strength in depth. Who else could bring on the equivalent of Johnson, Kolarov and Adebayor?

Yaya was partly there to dilute the influence of Scholes imo by making him track back & it worked to a large extent as Scholes produced fewer dangerous passes in this game than just about any game I've seen him play in recent years. As Doug said, in a way it's a decent point. The rags defended really well tonight & did the moving accross as a block thing that Mancini has been trying to teach City, far better than we currently do. They've had much more practice though.

My gripe is that we once again unbalanced the team by playing Boateng, who was clearly shitting himself & scared to attack & we waited til injury time to bring on Ade for a clearly unfit Tevez, purely to waste time rather than go for a win. I was keeping an eye on Scholes tonight and fromwhat I saw he was either suffering from that 'Virus' or he is just getting old. After 20 or so minutes he kept looking down at his boots after making a pass, Vidic was similar, which suggested to me that he was knackered as usually he'd be moving on for the next phase.

We've drawn with the most consistent side in the league, a team thats unbeaten. They played crap against everyone else and won, played well against us and couldnt beat us and people are still moaning. Its not like a home draw against Rochdale. Way too much whinging round here. It was a good result, we defended brilliantly and we contained a United team who were kicking into gear.

Good performance and a good result. Thinking we should take the game to United and we have a better team is crazy. We've played the entire big 4 now with Mancini's negative tactics. we've trounced Liverpool, beat Chelsea, drew with United and lost 3-0 to Arsenal in a game which could of went either way had our young centre back not being foolish. Thats 7 points from a possible 12 against the top 4. By my reckoning thats not too shabby.

As another positive thought beefy...How about the fact that having played the rags and got a draw, most of feel disappointed.
It isn't that long ago that we often felt relieved that derbies were over.
It is a measure, not only of their failings but also our rise that this perception has changed.
