The logic with that was I think he would be available for around the same ad we would get for selling roque and jo. He's exactly what we haven't got and haven't had for years! I also definitely disagree that he will be found out an this is just a hot streak of form. I'll remind you all of these comments when he's at another top club in a few years and still playing as Eskimos not better than he has been.

I thought he was gash last night - couldn't hold the ball, no real threat - yet the media and players are giving him all the plaudits. Did I watch a different game?

As for him coming to us, do we really need another problem child? I think we've got more than enough.

I've liked him this season, and he'd do a job for. I don't think he'll be 'found out', because his strength will always be there.

But.. he doesn't have the lifestyle we have heard Marwood talk about, so we'll not be interested, I'd imagine.

Carroll is an over-hyped Kenwyne Jones.

Bingo.

Incidentally, loads of people were suggesting while back that we should look into signing Kenwyne Jones.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

Kenwyne Jones is a frugal mans Adebayor. And I mean that as a compliment to Jones.
Adebayor is an extravagant mans Carroll. And I mean that as a slight on both of them.

The difference between Andy Carrol & Kenwyne Jones is that Andy Carrol heads the ball mainly with his forehead at the top of his jump (like a proper centre forward) Kenwyne Jones heads the ball with whichever part of his head it hits as he nods in its general direction usually on the way down. (See Jay fucking Boothroyd last night when Johnson set him up)

Very very promising player but still unproven. Can't see how the present manager would know how to use him though, it would involve 2 strikers & crosses, tactics which only work for philistines like rags, Chelsea & Spurs, oh & now Arsenal since they signed Chamakh.

Seeing as we're even worse than England at crosses, (he got 0 he could use last night), all he would be is an excuse for defenders to lump the ball up the pitch, when the midfield runs out of ideas (ie after 5 mins v rags/Birmingham).

I'd snap him up now, otherwise it will cost us double in 2-3 years time. Great player.

Steve Howey once "headed" the ball in the back of the net with his foreskin! I still wouldn't have him (back)!

Anyonre remember that goal by the way?

If he can keep his head down, focus on his game and not get into any more bother, then maybe think about it at the end of the season.

At the moment he's pretty good. We're just not in the market for "pretty good" players any more.

We've got all this dough and can look at players like Messi and Fabregas etc can't we?

Because football is not like that. It's not football manager, you can't buy a team. Whose to say Messi would have the efect in the Premier League that he does in La Liga? Who's to say Fabregas would form the same understanding with our team? Have we no learnt that buying players with massive egos ala Robinho, Adebayor, Toure does not work!

Carrol is teh type of player you can't go wrong with. Young with a lot of potential and we badly lack an aerial presence upfront. He's also the type of player who could lead the line for years, not come and go in two seasons.

I think the question should be:

Carroll or Dzeko?

Managed to look good in a piss poor England team who were totally outclasses for 90 minutes. Won headers against a world class centre back, held the ball up netter than the majority of players in his position for England have managed. Gave himself a definite place in the next england squad

I liked how he won the ball back in midfield to start a counter attack too (which Walcott screwed up I think)
