I hadn't seen that one. Did they really give that one to Guidetti? That was like from the handbook of own goals.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

I'd say this sounds like we do rate him to be sending him out on loan so young......exciting stuff. Although I've never heard of this Hurdy Gurdy FC mob??? ;-)

Manchester City starlet John Guidetti is set to join Swedish outfit Djurgardens on loan.

The 17-year-old striker was lured to City during Sven Goran Eriksson's regime and is very highly regarded at Eastlands.

But with a host of forwards on their books, Roberto Mancini is now set to allow Guidetti to gain first-team experience in his homeland.

Djurgardens have now struck a deal with City and he is expected to spend the rest of the season in Sweden.

"Manchester City are positive to do a loan until the end of May," Djurgardens sports director Stefan Alven told Expressen.

"John has expressed a desire to join Djurgardens and we are interested in signing him."

Bottom table club in the swedish top division, the mighty Allsvenskan. Will be interesting to see how he does, it's a crap league which started early this season after a very cold winter so the playing surfaces are embarrassingly shite.

That's bit harsh. Swedish league is very much same level as bottom of the Championship/top of the 1st div. And the game is quite similar to England. Djurgårdens IF is very decent side and they had probably the best side in Sweden in early-00's. Playing in front of crowds of 10 to 15k every week and getting chance to play against other Stockholm sides will do him world of good.

Good move all things considered.

This feller was in Swedish telly few weeks back on pre-game show and from what I gathered, sounded like bit of a arrogant knob though. Hope it was just my lousy understanding of Swedish.

As it turned out, Djurgarden rejected the loan last minute and he was snapped up by Brommapojkarna instead, they're probably the best team in Stockholm atm, though that's not saying much. They play their home games on the Grimsta IP- stadium, on a plastic turf and with a maximum capacity of 8000, I reckon their average gate will be around 4000.

I thought he came across quite well on TV, very confident absolutely, and he didn't mind telling the reporters a bit what goes on in the dressing room. That Bellers gets pissed off if you speak another language than english, that Tevez hardly says anything (since he hardly knows one word of english) and so on. More outspoken than the average footballer but never crossed the line is my impression, not bad for an 18year old lad

Why do I gather that you don't really like Stockholm as a City, mate? Personally I'd say both AIK and Djurgården have better teams than Brommapojkarna although Brommapojkarna have started the league very well and they were on the box the other week and seemed to be well trained side (although I only watched one half).

Do you know when AIK paly Brommapojkarna. I might try and make it over for that game. Swedes seem to be bit shy about it but truth is Råsunda when AIK is playing another Stockholm side (especially Hammarby) with stadion full to it's almost 40k (to my recollection) capacity it's as good experience as with any top sides Europe and I've been all over to watch football.

Hammarby is my fave Stockholm side but unfortunately they are in Superettan this season.

I'm planning a bit of road trip to Sweden this summer (as I'm skint and can't have a proper holiday this year) going to Kolmården and then probably driving to Gothenburg to see IFK Göteborg game and probably stop in Borås to watch Elfsborg (I always keep my eye on them as a mate of mine used to live there for few years and kind of supports them) and hopefully even Helsingborgs if I have enough time.

I actually love Stockholm, I just have a healthy small town complex that most people have towards their capitals.

I have to admit, for a swede, I'm not really an expert on Allsvenskan. Djurgården just avoided relegation last season while AIK won the league, this year they've been equally poor. For atmosphere I reckon Söderstation, where Hammarby plays, is probably one of the best in Sweden (not sure if it's full this season though), their marching- in song is really catchy as well. AIK- BP is 8th of August

You should PM me if you come to Boras, I actually work there and live closeby

Cool mate.

We'll probably coming in august now though. Missus has just stared at a new job and doesn't have vacation apart from week in august. I'll give you a PM when we know better.

No thats not one of his 3 goals... so add that one and 3 assist and that would be 7 goals in 8 games which Guidetti is involved in.....

Cheers.

That's a decent haul especially considering he came from the bench in few games. Boy's definitely got talent. Just needs to keep his head down and keep working, perhaps a loan in Championship and he might have chance to make it.

I'd be weary of sending any players to Blackpool. I could see them pulling the same crap as Birmingham did with Hart, i.e. making out like the player is better off staying put. I'd send them Onouha on loan. He seems out anyway put this would leave the door open should he prove himself week in week out.

I'd be more inclined to loan Guidetti/Ball/Nimley or similar to Wolves. McCarthy is a man of his word I think so there should be no crap in the papers about them staying longer.

Holloway isnt a c**t like McLieish though.

He isn't but he's a media darling and I don't really trust those.

Holloway and McCarthy will speak their minds - they will never hide. But I think McCarthy would be a bit more shrewd and respectful when talking about our players.

Just my opinion - probably unfair.

I think it's time for a Guidetti update. Why? Coz a few things has happened with the lad. Conidering being one the top five prospects in Europe - of all positions, he has now also made his U21 debut for the Swedish national team. It was earlier in June in an away game aganist Montenegro and he came in during the second half, making a good preformance. I'd say that Sweden's U21 team is one of the most talented in Europe right now. The last years Euro u21 championships in Sweden was a success - thus the failure on penalties against England. 5-7 of the u21 players from that team are in the Swedish national team squad right now, doing very well. The u21 team are in the top of their qualifying group with five wins and one draw - no losses.

During his preformances in his loan spell there are some things to note.
The Allsvenskan - the Swedish top league - isn't the best of leagues. Many teams are lacking in technique skills and the league is concidered to be a kick-and-run league. I agree with those who say that the top teams would probably make it to stay clear of relegation in the Championship. But these teams in the top know how to play the ball on the pitch. The defenders of the league are very physical, you need to be a strong attacker with pace, and if you have the technique - you'll gonna succeed.

Guidetti has shown great techniqual skills, great pace, great knowledge of the game and also, he has brought lots of attitude to the game.

I've seen a couple of interviews with the lad and he seems to be very mature and focused on what he wanna achive. One reporter said him that playing for a team like Sporting Lisboa wouldn't be that bad team to play and he would have a pretty good career anyway, if he didn't made it to the first team of Man C. He replied that: - "With all the respect to the Portuguese league, the Creece one or whatever middle league there is, I WANT to play among the best and I'm gonna do everything I can to get there. There is no doubt that I'm gonna do my best every single second to improve and show what I'm capable of."

Although he has shown a lot of attitude, he also seems to still have his both feets on the ground. When he talks, you forget that the lad is only 18. He is a very outgoing and social kind of person, with lots of interesting things to say.

I know that his hometownclub - Brommapojkarna (a neighbourhood club in Stockholm), would love to have him for another loan spell. For you, as his employee, I'd say no. Let him train with the A-team during the summer, evaluate and then send him on loan to why not a mid-table-team in the dutch first league. I think he wouldn't make a fool of himself although he is pretty young.

And this, is what he made away against Malmö (beeing 2nd in the league) in late may.

Enjoy and good luck lads.

Scores goal after goal for reserves. Surely has to be given a chance? He can't be any worse than Jo. With our lack of attacking options we should try and force him into the team.

He wouldnt have been worse than Jo I can assure you although equally I can't be ceratin he would be a raging success either. But the one thing he has over Jo in abundance is effort and desire.

Maybe so Doug, but do you reckon he has what it takes to make it to the top? The attitude and desire seems to be there. Which striker would you compare him to?
